Glock Gripes

Im a 1911 guy but as far as grip angle vs glock i really dont notice it much.I have a g20 and really only thing i hate about the glock are the triggers and i really aint a fan of double stack bigger calibers but i didnt buy the g20 for a target gun.

There is nothing wrong with wanting a pretty gun and comfortable ergos, but I really think the ergo and grip angle thing is wayyyy overblown. The only time these things matter is when you are comparing guns at the sales counter or fondling the collection at home. Sure, when comparing grip angles and grip comfort you may spot a big difference between guns because you're focusing on these differences. I think the differences are less apparent at the range while putting 300 rounds down range and focusing on your front sight. I have owned both 1911s and Glocks (still have the Glocks). I can tell you that the G19 doesn't "feel" as good as a 1911 when fondling the two at home, but at the range, they both fell great. Actually, I have a preference toward the Glock because there is no thump safety getting between my high grip and the gun. With that said I could shoot better with the 1911, not because it is more accurate but because the trigger allows a mediocre shooter like myself to mask my flaws and shoot like a pro. I took this as a challenge to practice more with my Glocks, so I did.

I think the grip angle thing is way overblown and a sales/marketing ploy by other gun manufactures...think "the grass is always greener." As long as you can reach the trigger and grip the gun firmly, it doesn't matter. You align the sights anyway, don't you? What does the angle matter? The G19 is a soft shooter and feels great while shooting, like two pieces of a puzzle fitting together nicely (gun and hand). If you were to ask me about grip ergos of a Glock at the sales counter or at home I'd say it is more like two of the wrong puzzle pieces being forced together. Guns are for shooting, not fondling and should be judged by how they perform at their intended task. Glocks must perform or else they would not be standard issue for so many LEAs and Militaries around the world.

I agree. The G26 is great. Very accurate but other than that is a bit more bulky to carry than the Shield. Got rid of my G26's for a Shield and haven't regretted it.

I'm in another thread where the folks are going g26 over the shield.
What a difference in a change of threads make.
If I were to make one simple change to the glock that bugs me to no end , is the way they attach the mag base plate.
Just do it like most everyone else for crying out loud. It's better that way

I have four Glock 2nd Gen pistols, G19, G21, G22 and G31. They still look and function great. Since I got use to the Glock trigger back in late 1992, I've shot the pistols very well. I'm not looking to get rid of any of them. However, after the finger grooves appeared on the Glocks in around 1998, my enthusiasm for Glocks waned. In addition to the finger grooves, the grip on the 3rd Gen is just different, it doesn't feel right. I refused to buy a new Glock from 1999 until last year when I gave in to my fondness for the look of the G35. Well, it was very accurate and I shot it very well indeed. However, owning and shooting it simply confirmed that I hate the 3rd Gen grip. The G35 was as new (ANIB) when I sold it a few weeks ago and took a loss . . . and I don't miss it at all.

So, to satisfy my urge to do something Glock, I purchased G22 and G35 factory barrels to use on my 1997 G31, not only is .40 a lot less expensive to shoot than .357 Sig, both barrels fit perfectly, function flawlessly, shoot to point of aim, and group very well. Who knows, maybe someday I'll run across a NIB or at least a ANIB G23 2nd Gen for a really good price. Until then, the resurgence of my interest in Glocks has bee satisfied with my now very versatile G31.

My only gripes about my glock 19 gen 4 are the finger grooves and the trigger guard giving me glock knuckle. If Glock would remove the finger grooves (or even make the grip more ergonomic ala VP9/PPQ) and put a thinner trigger guard that would keep us from having to take a dremel to it, they would have perfection.

BTW, I think that bevel cut or whatever it is they did to the front of the slide on the "17M" versions looks ugly IMHO. I hope the Gen 5s don't have that.

I will never understand. CZ's are ugly to me. They look like one of those German Schnauzer dogs...I also think of camels, llamas, goats...basically any ugly animal.
