Someone also might need to read the California roster.

If I were to buy a new gun for self-defense, I'd have to be completely confident with it being 100% reliable. Contrary to legend of old, an excellent quality semiauto is more reliable than an excellent double action revolver. A semiauto has less moving parts.

My first look would be at Sig. Once I'd have one ID'd, and in this case it'd be a P220, I'd look at others.

Forget a full size, on-roster pistol. XDs .45 3.3 inch. A fun, little, reliable pocket rocket!

USP Expert, get one, you'll love it!

and you'll become an instant expert

xds is cool too, very reliable but not really a lot of fun to shoot compared to a usp, especially with +p

I started out with nothing - and I still have most of it

Glock 30 sf or Gen 4 30 would be my choice in the compact 45 catagory. Amazing how the fit 10 rds of 45 ACP in this the magazine. Huge size difference in same magazine capacity for the CZ 97B.

An old Baby Eagle IWI all steel full size with the Decocker in 45acp.

Just before I moved to Texas I finally saw one for sale in California. Of course the seller wanted $1700 for it.

I've got the Expert, Elite and a P220 Supermatch.
The HKs and the Sig are very different. It really depends what you like. The Expert is fantastic if you want polymer. The Sig is nicer to hold and eyeball but I think the Expert shoots just as well.

Recently took a look at the 97B and loved it. Just felt right in my hands and assuming it shoots like my SP-01, I need one now.

Definitely worth considering over the others. Especially if you're looking to save a bit now but are open to tuning down the road...

If it has to be 45 and can't be a 1911, Sig 220 all the way for me.
