    Glock 19c vs Glock 23

should i pick up the 9mm or .40 ? i already have a 1911 in .45 but i was wondering which would you guys get? what are the pros and cons of the two?....i know a place that has the glock 19c in stock, and im very tempted to buy it with the very little money i got lol! also, my father has a few high cap magazines laying around thats hes willing to give me for a 9mm glock.....i want to make sure that if i use a weapon in SD the person will be "stopped"

I'm assuming you went to Ammo Bros as they have both the 19c and 23 in stock. The ammo choice is subjective some love 9mm others .40.

Most will tell you that for SD you probably don't want a compensated 9mm as there really is no need for one, and the likelihood of using it for SD will probably be in a nighttime situation and the compensator is going to put out a lot of flash, which could be detrimental to your night vision.

As for the Hi Caps, you CAN'T have them intact, that is illegal. Your dad can give them to you disassembled, but you cannot use them in California.

One final nitpick, you may want to reword your last sentence.

You want to stop the threat!! That's it.

Anyways, based on the 2 choices above, I would go 23.

I think it can be confirmed that an alien xenomorph is absolutely no match for good ole' Alabama black snake!

    and

If you're in a survival movie and the hot blond twists her ankle and can't walk, you damn well figure a way to carry her. If it's a dude, you shake his hand and say "best of luck".

why not use your 1911 for SD, .45 would definitely stop the "threat" as for the choice of glocks, I would go for the 19 based on the fact you already own a 1911....ammo is much cheaper in 9mm and the 19 is the "legend" of glocks.....for the record I own a G23 and absolutely love it!........

Get the Glock 23 and buy a Storm Lake 9mm conversion barrel and Glock 19 magazine to go along with it.. then you have a Glock 23 and in a few seconds, you can have basically a Glock 19.. best of both worlds

It's surprising you mention a 19C but don't mention a 23C. The 23 certainly has more recoil then the 19C would.

The 19 simply doesn't warrant being compensated...the recoil on the 9mm is minimal.

I have a 23C and would not buy a compensated gun again for the simple reason I ruined my front night sight. I have Trig sights, and after cleaning the powder residue enough times, the white ring on the sight has worn off (and it didn't take long to happen.)

The 23 is pretty snappy. If you already have a .45, I'd go w/ the 9mm.

He didn't mention the 23C because the local FFL doesn't have a 23c in stock, they have a 19C and a 23 right now.

                        If they had a 19, he wouldn't even be considering a 19c.

Obviously someone has a hole burning in their pocket and wants a Glock now.

Seem a lot of people aren't reading his post.

If your willing to wait and find a G19 somewhere, then I would take that over the G23.

I have a 19 slide that I would be more than happy to trade for a 19c slide

Pretty much $100 for the new 9mm barrel and $25 for a 9mm magazine.
