Glock Problem

Has anyone had a problem with their Glock that when you fire, the magazine pops out? I bought a used Glock 41 and every time I fire, the magazine pops out. I only tried one magazine so far, because I took only one magazine to the range.

I ordered and received a new Vickers Tactical magazine catch. I will have to install and now try with all the magazines that I have.

I have a few Glocks and this was the first time that this happened.

I have seen that happen on the range twice but I was thinking it was a well used and unkempt rental.

My Glock 19 Gen 3 has never had any problems.

Just in case... Are you overgripping the grip and unknowingly squeezing the mag release?

If your booger hooks are hitting the magazine release and causing the magazine to drop, adding an extended mag release is almost certainly going to make your problem worse, not better.

Anyways, that's likely your problem - you're hitting the mag release with your fingers when you're shooting. Adjust your grip. You probably just aren't having that problem with your other glocks because they're less sensitive to light touching of the mag release, for whatever reason.

That is, unless you can fairly easily tug the magazine out by hand, in which case the mag catch itself is probably defective, or the catch slots in the magazine are worn out. But if you can't pull the magazine out by hand, then you're most likely unknowingly hitting the button while you're shooting.

Since your gun is used, I would recommend replacing the mag release with a new, stock unit. They are like $3, but made of plastic so they will eventually wear out.

Absent that, it could very well be your fingers making contact with the mag release while firing.

It happened to me one day while qualifying with my G41. Everytime I shot rapid fire the mag hit the floor. Turns out it was me, hitting the mag release

It never happened to me before that with any other Glock. And it didn't happen again after I adjusted my hold on the gun. Adjust your grip.

After that I also changed my mag release to the Vickers unit which helped.

I had it happen a couple of times with my G26. The fix was to insert the mag like you mean it, not just softly put it in.

I used to use extended mag releases also. When I was CC while visiting free states last summer, the mags kept releasing. I went back to the OEM mag releases to stop that problem.

Remember to slam in then pull your mag when you insert it. Should be muscle memory.

My Glock problem is I don't have as many as I want. Every one that I own has worked flawlessly from day 1 and none have had any issues other than going through ammo too quickly.

My 17 has an extended release and it makes it much easier to find and I'm more conscious of where it is. I took a 2-day handgun course at FS 2 years ago and, in the heat of a drill, I dropped the mag. Turns out my brain ignores the extended release and puts my thumb knuckle on it when I'm on autopilot.
