I have a former coworker that loves to spend extra money. I've shown him several good deals on guns he was looking for, then a couple days later he'd go buy it from Gander Mountain or the local shop that tags everything high then smiles and gives you a "good deal" by knocking $30 off.

I've got a guy that always does the best pricing out of his home ffl, but He's away on hunts a lot this time of year and Ive got 300 in gift cards to the what has become the overpriced shop from family members over the last year or two. Overpaying by about 80 bucks stings but hopefully I can negotiate an extra mag oe 2 into the deal to relieve some of the sting.

And yeah shields a single stack. Figure with the rebate that's apex or hyve upgrade parts money. I research the crap out of anything I'm buying.

MSRP is concocted to give the shop a profit to cover that.

Over MSRP is generally because the shop (the ones who set the price) think that a customer will pay the premium either due to short supply or some other factor that makes the extra cost worthwhile.

In some instances, it could be that the shop itself has had to pay more to get that particular model into their stock.

Remember that Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price is just that - a suggestion. The shop can set whatever price it wants.

That's funny because I've been considering selling mine for about $100 less than what I bought it for due to the fact that I can't shoot it worth S***.

Its like paying over sticker for a car, some dealers will do that, some won't. With guns, I understand the smaller mom and pops simply can't compete with the bigger chains and they may need to add a little more. If they are really nice people, that extra little bit ensures they will be around a little longer. Commercial space leasing and all the fees are not cheap, especially here in CA.

Its rare that you see something in the real world at or above a manufacturers suggested price. With deals for shields all over the net for 350 to 389 I was shocked to walk into a local one to have a few at 485. Before taxes and their 35 in fees. Is that odd or rude to ask why so high? Almost makes me want to ship one in and pay his hundred bucks and still get out the door under his price.

They have listed in their fees a 25 dollar dros and a 10 dollar ffl fee. When you add in the 485 plus tax for a new shield, it makes it hard to want to keep your money local and the smaller shops around.

Hunters supply in Monterey had them for a lil over 500 last time I went.

Hunter's Supply is the only shop I've ever been in for a PPT and didn't purchase a firearm. They've had Beretta's at $120 over MSRP

Every shop I go to earns my business if they do a PPT and have no issues or excuses about it, except HS. They suck for PPT's as well.
