I'm interested in giving the 1911 platform a try but I'm a 9mm guy so I'm a little hesitant about adopting another caliber.

Not impressed with the SA Target 9mm, it didn't have the same feel as the MC Operator. Also the MC Operator has a rail for a light if I want to use it in a home defense role.

Lastly, the MC Operator looks great.

Sure thing. Then I say go for it. As for going up in caliber, have you shot one ever? Come out to the range with someone that has a .45acp 1911, or rent one.

I was just out at a range with a calgunner I met on Facebook (of all places). The guy is a 9mm shooter. He had 3 1911s in .45acp, sold 2, kept a TRP half rail, but he still shoots 9mm better. Of course he can get past it, and with practice will shoot the .45acp as well as he does the 9mm, but 2 of the 3 guns are gone.

Believe me, I am not talking you out of it. I think everyone should have a 1911.

Where are you located? Perhaps a 1911 range session with a local 1911 owner is in order.

      Happy shooting and be safe!
I couldn't agree more. Especially about the undercut and FSC.

Everyone should try a 1911 that was undercut. World of difference. For me, it is not that the middle finger goes up higher, but more that it can close around the grip better and get a little higher.

Then again, once I do that much modifying, we're talking TRP territory which has a lot of those same upgrades. I can't remember for sure if the TRP has the trigger area undercut or not?? I know they've got the cheesegrater front strap checkering though. I'd shop hard for a TRP Half Rail. But, people want Les Baer money for those!

          No, that's a custom feature.

San Diego. I haven't shot a 1911 in 7 years. Will definitely rent one.

Yup, seems like it. I just did this for a buddy of mine with a PM7, he posted some pics here. Well, he hasn't had a single 1911 with an undercut before, and was skeptical about its effectiveness, but after it was done he admitted that it made his other 1911s feel like they were pushing his middle finger down the grip.

If he sees this thread, he could chime in and speak for himself whether he likes it or not.

I just broke out my MC out of jail last week. Too bad you're not near me, I would have let you try it out.

My Les Baer has 30 LPI front strap checkering and an undercut trigger guard. Very nice feel. I just put some SA Pro cocobolo grips on my Les Baer. I really like them over the VZ and the original LB grips that came on it. They're slightly thinner than either of the above and makes the front strap stick out just a bit more and fits my hand better.

People are selling them because they decided either they don't like the color or they want an off roster or TRP.
I also have a couple TRPs and just picked up an MC Operator. It's a gun I have absolutely no qualms shooting the crap out of and so far it's been a blast!
I just need to put some grip tape on the front and I'm set.
I'm in North SD county so if you're willing to drive to Iron Sights you're more than welcome to shoot it.

Bought one as my first 1911. Took it out the other week for the first time and it's a pretty damn fine shooter. Sure it isn't a $3K custom hand-built 1911. I'm still a 1911 rookie but for me, I absolutely liked the OD Frame/Black slide combo look on it which was another contributing factor.

I will say that I enjoy shooting this thing more than my TRPs. Probably because I'm not worried about beating it up.

I love those grips. Which exact model are those and do they come in slim.
The color is a perfect match for the green frame.
Also if the texture is rough, can you sand them down to smooth them out a lil bit or will it ruin the pattern or look?

                            thanks

I doubt it's because of a performance issue. A friend of mine has one with 8000+ rounds through it and it is a sweet shooter. I think he only changed recoil spring and grips. Great gun on a great platform.
