    Are single stack 9mms fun?

I heard they are harder to control and have a steeper learning curve. Considering one for fun. Size/weight/capacity not an issue as it would be for range and not ccw. Interested in Walther PPS M2 because of similarity to PPQ. What do you recommend? Off roster recommendations okay.

Or, should I just get a bigger 9mm? Suggestions? Again, off roster okay. Budget $600 in free state prices.

You need a HK P7M8 (fixed barrel, gas delayed blowback, 4.5 pound trigger with squeeze cocker)

and P9S (fixed barrel, roller delayed, with the cutest little trunion and bolt head)

      I have 4 single stacked 9's: a Taurus 1911, Smith & Wesson 908, Walther P1 and a Sig P290rs (it's for ccw but I just thought I'd throw it out there).

The Taurus and Walther are great fun range guns. The Smith is used for both range and ccw and is easy and fun to shoot. The Sig is only for ccw but I've been doing a lot of practice with it as my range date for my permit is coming up soon. It too is easy to handle but not fun for long range sessions.
      Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

The luger and P-38 are single stack 9mm pistols. Early S&W 9mm guns were also single stack. The Glock 17 and 19, with a California 10 rounds magazine, are single stack 9mm guns.

I had an XDS 9mm. It was a nice gun. I sold it because I had no real use for it. CCW is not allowed where I live.

I have a S&W 3913, a single stack 8+1 with a 3.5" barrel. It was my second 9mm. My first was a Beretta 92FS. I do really like the 3913, but for range use I prefer the Beretta 92 because its larger size makes it such an easy gun to shoot. However I don't really think of the 3913 as harder to control, I guess it just probably kicks a little more because it is a smaller gun. It has nice sights on it, which make it accurate enough to be an enjoyable range gun.

I have a Glock 43 and a Shield which are in the same ballpark as a PPS. I really think both are great CCW choices, but they aren't going to be something you take to the range and happily digest 200 rounds through. I shoot mine enough to stay proficient, but that's about it. They aren't fun plinking and entertaining yourself in the same way that a big, heavy full size 9mm would be.

I would rather have a CZ Tactical Sport, which is a terrible carry gun, than a single stack 9 for range duty. For carry, reverse that with the same enthusiasm.

The reason you like the CZ tactical sport, though you may not realize, is because the bore axis is lower as a result of the interior rails...

Read thread 2 above this. According to the OP we are nuts for liking CZ's.
If you find yourself in a fair fight, you're doing it all wrong.

Single stack 9mm pistols are great ! 1911 variants , Smith and Wesson 3913/14. Sig P225, P239. Single stack 9mm pistols are very popular. One of my favorite off duty guns is still my S&W 3914. Small , accurate, reliable . Very easy to carry slim single stack magazines .

I really like shooting my P938. It's actually a really nice shooting micro-compact.
