Only if it was made after 1975. [FGC 2022(c)(3)]

Find someone who can make you some custom grips in American Holly wood. Beautiful, looks just like ivory, and even ages like ivory.

Not true if you get your own, the law prohibits possession FOR SALE.

Stag antler is the way to go on a 1911... and due to the latest ivory restrictions, faux ivory/bonded ivory is a good substitute for single-action pistols, as is faux pearl.

Importation of Ivory has been banned for a long time. Why anyone would want those given their source is a mystery to me.

Instead of Ivory, which is illegal in the U.S, why don't you use abalone shell? one of my friends made CZ grips from it, and it looks nice.

Careful working with abalone. The dust from grinding is hazardous to your lungs.

Very interesting respones. I was not aware that Ivory (including Mammoth) was restricted in California. I may look into Stag.

                            Thank you,

Makes perfect sense to me. We MUST protect mastodons from extinction. This law does not go far enough. We should protect trilobites too.
