Purchased my first 1911 and wasn't a huge fan of the wood grips that it came with. Want to switch up to something black. Something with a nice grip, but not too aggressive. I see options for thin grips, standard grips, etc. so I'm looking for insight. I see a lot of positives about VZ/G10 grips. Any feedback is appreciated.

I put Nighthawk G10 grips on my Kimber and MC Operator. If I had known about VZ when I was looking for grips I would have gone that route. My buddy has VZ on his colt and loves them and they feel good in the hand. Can't go wrong with VZ in my opinion.Comment

Grips like most anything else comes down to, you get what you pay for. If you just want something functional and fits 'ok', then any old grip will do. But if you want a close to perfect fit, pick the amount of aggressiveness you want and be good to look at. Stick with the manufacturers with that reputation. I have bought lower cost G10 grips off of amazon before, none of them fit well enough for me to keep them on my guns. An example, grips for a magwell gun, left to big of a gap at the magwell. Ended up giving or trading them away.
I own 11 1911s right now all wear either VZ or their manufacturers grips, Wilson, Brown, Kimber, etc.
VZ frags in black, I just put on my Colt M45a1 with magwell, perfect fit.

These shrunk my groups instantly...they went on my Colt though. Might look funny on any other make.

I had VZ Operator 2s on my TTT, but was too aggressive for my taste.
I replaced them with VZ Double diamonds and found them to be just right.
Now I'm running the Mil-tac G10 Black and Grey on my Trojan. From what I heard these are the same grips that come with the TRP, but they look a little lighter.
They're pretty grippy and not very aggressive.

Knock out Valentine's Day and get yourself some new grips at the same time.

I use these GI issue black plastic grips, very durable and inexpensive.
