Beretta PX4 Storm

The unsafe pistol finally home. Very nice built, recess crown barrel is a nice touch. DA is heavy but smooth. SA is very nice. It is a HD/SD, range gun so I am not in a rush to put the D spring in.

The safety is very hard to run in HD/SD situation. I will convert her to type G later on.

Nice pickup for your collection. I have always liked the way they look, but I have never shot one before. I do have several different 92 models, which I like very much. Anyway, congrats on your new Beretta. Let us know how it shoots.

I almost bought one a few times but never pulled the trigger. Pun intended. Now they fell off roster I'm kicking myself. I only got to handle the full size, I'm interested in trying the carry size too.

Please give a post shooting report. I'm interested. I've been told the floating barrel make a a great difference run recoil and I've been told the floating barrel is garbage caused people to sell it.

great choice, such an underrated firearm, i have mine ready for HD

the safety is probably the biggest issue i had with the Px4 - gouging the thumb/fingers, i highly recommend the low profile type G changeout - much more streamlined, you can also now find the 92fs type levers available for the Px4 now too

it's a DIY changeout too, takes about 10 minutes

there is also a metal trigger available now too, also a fairly easy changeout

Did anyone do any legwork on why? It seemed like alot of speculation was because of the manufacturing facility move, but when this happened to the Ruger SR22 it stopped all in-process dros from being handed over, did it not? I only ask because I am hopefull the real reason was they just didnt see the sales of the Storm as enough incentive to keep paying CA fees, but maybe one day they will reinstate it?

Anyways, 7 months ago I was in a heavy debate between a 92fs and a storm. I found a discontinued G model Storm in 40 S&W and jumped on it. Glad I did!

Its a total shame these fell off the roster, its my favorite 40 to shoot (right next to my HK USP)
but theres something real to the "rotating barrel reducing snap" theory with this gun.

and i mean, come on, who doesn't love the looks of a fine Italian handgun?

There's a difference in what happened.

The Ruger SR 22 was removed from the roster.

The Beretta PX4 fell off the roster.

Ruger had made a change in a part and was shipping them with the new design. CA DOJ determined that this was a new gun and not the one tested and approved. When they removed it from the approved list all DROS was cancelled and no one could pick up their guns.

I'm not sure if Beretta made any changes or not but it on the list all the way up to 1/1/2017.

i believe it had something to do with Beretta moving their plant and the DOJ wanting them to retest all their firearms manufactured at the new plant - that would mean microstamping technology, which we all know isn't going to happen
