    TRP Operator

How rare are CA approved TRP Operators? I saw one at a local gun shop and thought it would be fun to own.

They are out there. The roster one is stainless and has wood grips instead of the black g10 grips I believe.

The full rail is on roster, and goes for aprox $1800. I wouldn't pay that much but I see them listed for that often. The half rail is off roster and much more valuable. Best of luck.

The one I saw was black with the weird grips. They showed me the box and it had the LCA designation.

From what I understand, the TRP Operators (and many production guns) are build in batches. So, you'll see a dry spell every now & then.

The half-rail Operator would be my choice though, but alas, not on the special list. So, it's either the MC Operator or a Kimber(?).

          Happy hunting and be safe.

Love my full rail TRP. Kinda reminds me of the pistol used by the original Robocop, even though closer look at it you can make out the Beretta 92.

Holsters for the full rail can be done through different vendors.

The front checkering is love it or hate it and after 500 rounds through mine, I prefer the aggressive 20LPI and black sandpaper grips. Don't think I'll get another 1911 without front checkering.

Don't buy a TRP, it's an ammo waster. Every round goes through the same hole. Get a pistol that misses occasionally like a Glock.

If you still have questions, just ask ole Uncle Hickok!

Check out this nice piece on the TRP:

The black finish on the TRP is called Armory-Kote. Nice and tough. The front strap checkering is really aggressive at first. But when shooting it, it feels great. I have 30-40 lpi on my Les Baer. Smoother, but still locks the grip into your hands like glue.

Nice fit & finish on these guns.

                  Happy shooting and be safe.

One of the finest 1911s on the market, period.

Love the looks of the full rail, and all the added weight from bull barrel, FLGR & full rail add weight which nicely soaks up recoil.

                    Mine are stupid accurate.

Don't think, just buy one. Or three.

I have a standard TRP. It's my favorite 1911, period. The TRP operator I saw was listed at $1,699. I bought my TRP online for $1,250.

I have a half rail TRP SSe'd 2014. I would have taken a full rail just as easily though- just found a half rail for a great price online.

Think before taxes was $1699. I love it. I own a number of 1911's and to me the 2 I own that feel above all the rest as far as craftsmanship are my TRP and Wilson Combat CQB.

Of course the Wilson is top notch- but honestly , at least to me, the trigger, audible safety click, etc of the TRP is just a very small step behind that Wilson-- I absolutely love my TRP and think that they are completely worth the $1600-$1800 they go for.

I see a ton of TRP's (a lot of full rails) on the marketplace here past 6 months- a lot in the $1500=$1700 range--most hardly used- I'd keep checking FS ads here and wait for a good deal-- you will find one. Good luck-- great 1911!!!!!
