I live in San Diego, can't carry here , so whatever guns I get will be a range toy.

Taking another off ramp I would get a G35 in .40 and just swap out barrels to shoot 9 and .357 SIG ( if desired)

      Same gun. Same sweet trigger.

Very accurate and opens up more competition venues as well (.40)
Runs perfect with a 9 barrel/mags because it's the same frame.

      G35

With 9 barrel....6 inch Lonewolf. ($100)..really fast 9 in six inch as well.

      Be well

Then I suggest a G19 just in case you need to carry it one of these days (I.e. SHTF situation)

And take your Springfield 1911 to the range and shoot it. You may not want a G34 anymore

            The 34 and 19, skip the 17.

            I'd get a 34 if carrying wasn't an option.

I love my 19, but just for a range toy I'd go 34.

The 19... Someday you may want a CCW Gun and might as well start off with one of the best options.

The 19, there simply is no need to go any bigger. There is a reason many special forces units are using the 19, its really the perfect size for a combat pistol. Also allows you to use 19 and 17 mags.

Personally, I do not gain anything with a longer sight radius. I suspect most shooters don't. I know sight radius is a real thing but it really has reached mythical status. It might actually work against you as your eyes age.

The 34 does have a nicer trigger, sights, and slide release but all these things can be added to a 19. The curve in the 19's backstrap fits perfectly into the hollow of my palm, "locking" it in.

Whenever people bring up sight radius, I roll my eyes and think of this little write up by Massad Ayoob:

34 if you want groups that will fit inside a quarter

Get both. Love my 34 and use it for HD. Will also be picking up a 19 in a few days.

34 for sure. A perfect range and home defense gun.

I went this avenue and unfortunately, my G35 can't hit the broad side of a barn with both Lone Wolf and Storm Lake 9mm conversion barrels.

It's dead nuts on with the stock barrel though.

I wasted hundreds of dollars on 9mm conversion barrels that my G35 hates.

I played that game for a while with my 23. In the end I just went and got a 19.

I'm really leaning towards the G34, just because if I ever want to try match shooting. Now I just need to convince my wallet that I need to spend the money and buy a new gun.

Im still in my 30 day waiting period, so I can either buy it now and dros it on the 10th or risk it and wait....
