    Range report: Glock vs 1911

See post # 47 with remanufactured vs hollow points ammo.

    Location: Firing-Line Indoor range

Guns: Glock 19 vs Les Baer

Ammo: Fiocchi 9mm 115 gr vs Freedom Munition .45 ACP

    Sight image: #2

Glock 19 was first. Five shots per group. Freehand. 7 to 16 yards

Then the Les Baer. Five shots per group. Freehand. 7 to 16 yards

The 16-yard group suck. So I shot it again from 16 yards but this time I slow down a bit. (3 to 5 seconds per shot)

Then I came back to Glock 19

So what are your conclusions? I will provide my conclusion later.

    Happy Friday!

I say great shooting on both platforms! I personally have love for both, so kudos!

In the right hands both are very accurate. Longer distances will show where one really shines.

Interested to see beyond 16 yards. Good shooting nonetheless!

One costs $500 and the other $2000?

Nice shooting. I'm not surprised the 1911 was, what I consider to be, significantly more accurate.

Les Baer is an extremely accurate 1911.

I'd say excellent shooting on both platforms especially since one is set up for duty/combat use and the other for competition/bulls eye matches.

That's good shooting. Have you tried testing other brand of ammo with the Les Baer?

You're shooting factory with the Glock, but you're shooting remanufactured with the Les Baer. If that ammo have mix brass it will have big variations in pressure, and velocity due to variations in bullet crimp, case length, primer pockets/holes. I'm betting the grouping will be much better with the Baer if factory ammo is used. Redo the test for the Baer.

The 1911 is not more accurate, mechanically speaking...but it absorbs more user technique errors. The trigger is hard to mess up as it doesn't move then breaks cleanly. The Glock trigger has more of a "pinball machine" trigger where you still have finger motion to finish cocking the striker then releasing it.

Remember to dial 1 before 911.

Forget about stopping power. If you can't hit it, you can't stop it.

                              There. Are. Four. Lights!
