9mm ammo performs well these days and as always, shot placement rules.

Beyond all of that, my guns are used in games (USPSA, IDPA), and I live in Alameda County, so the whole "you need a bigger caliber cause you're handicapped by magazine capacity limits" brough-ha-ha is moot to my case (and if we're honest here, moot for most of us living in this state).

Beyond all of that, a 9mm 1911 will have a magazine capacity of 10 vs. 8 for the .45 ACP. That's a 25% advantage in capacity. Most gunfights may not need more than whatever number of rounds the average for each gunfight is, but I'm of the opinion that I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

If you just have to carry a 1911 for whatever reason, and you're stuck in California, 10 rounds of proven self defense ammo is better than 8 in my opinion.

Really? What empirical data did you use to determine no numbers for the average gunfight?

Your opinion of having 10 rounds of 115-124 grain 9mm slugs vs. having 8 rounds of 230 grain slugs (and you forgot to put one in the chamber for each pistol, so that lessens your percentage) just shows that you feel protected by a couple more rounds of smaller ammo. Geez, if you think you need that many rounds in a gunfight, where are your extra mags?

A big, slow, 230 grain Hydrashok will beat a fast, light 115 grain anything, any day of the week, shot for shot in the same place on the body. Bigger hole, more penetration (especially through clothing), more shock.

For two less rounds (11 vs. 9), I'll stick with the .45.

Ok, you win. I'm in no mood for an argument on the merits of modern self defense ammo. It's not my area of expertise but I assume the FBI knows a thing or two and they're switching over to 9mm.

And forgive me for not mentioning the extra mags (which each carry 25% more ammo), but I didn't mention a lot of obvious factors, cause they're obvious. Like seeking cover, trying to avoid a gunfight in the first place and engaging in dick measuring contests online.

There's also a garden spot called Richmond that's in a worse county right above it.
Those guys are awesome at making hits on a moving car, while driving on the freeway.
Which is kinda funny bc guys from Coco County tend to like 40, 45, 357sig.
Maybe it's the whole shooting at a guy in a car doing freeway speeds thing rather than a guy just hanging out.

Go to the range and there are gang bangers from the other county shooting right next to LE.
I mean honestly, you have to get your round of golf in on a Sunday, am I right?

If you want to debate caliber and handgun capacity I can think of my favorite places to get doughnuts, fried chicken, lotto tickets, and Chinese food to go.
