    1911's

Hey my fellow cal gunners I need some help making a purchase decision... I am buying my first 1911 on Tuesday. Looking to spend between 600-850 if possible. So far I have been looking at Springfield Milspec and Loaded, does anyone have any experience with either? Is the loaded worth an extra $200?

Also any other brands I need to check out? Also extra mags? Brands to avoid/Brands to grab when I see them?

    Thanks!

Absolutely get the Loaded. I had one and it was a very good gun for the money. Beavertail grip safety, better hammer, better trigger, better sights, FCS....you get a lot for $200 more.

Nothing wrong with the milspec but the loaded does have all the parts as mentioned. Cant go wrong either way.

Mil spec is a great deal, if you always want the mil spec. If you start wanting upgraded features later (especially sights) you will wish you had the loaded...

Also take a look at Kimber. There are plenty of people who bash them for the use of MIM parts, but my TLEII had much better fit and accuracy compared to my Colt XSE for much less money. With the Springfield options, I'd go with the Loaded.
The inconvenience of poor quality lingers long after the thrill of a good bargain.

The Loaded was my first gun and I loved it. Can't go wrong imo.

Loaded, them upgraded part cost more than 200 to put it.....I have one, very pleased with it.

Save some more, be patient and get the TRP.

Loaded is a perfectly fine pistol.

If you buy milspec, and then at some point shoot another (higher end) 1911 you will likely want to replace the grip safety, get better sights, etc.

If you have a gunsmith do that for you on your Milspec, you will pay more than the difference between mil spec and loaded.

                    Get the loaded.

Loaded models are great, but if you can swing it the TRP are definitely worthy. I've seen too many who buy basic models only to spend more on upgrades

                        Amen to that.
10K rounds through my TLE with no trouble. Accurate little SOB. If I were to change out anything on it the grip safety would be it. It works, but not as refined as Wilson/Brown which I keep in my rotation. The TLE is Kimber's best value IMO.

The price range was stated with 850 being the high end. If you can point me to a TRP for 850 I will buy 3

I'll probably get lit up for saying this but I have a Springfield loaded and a Rock Island 1911 and my RIA is way more accurate than the SA or maybe I just shoot it better, but either way I'm more accurate with it.

You should at least look at a RIA 1911

You just shoot the RIA better. All guns are more accurate than the user, generally. I would think about what features you want and go that route. Loaded is great, my only complaint was that the sights are target sights so it's black on black.

TRP is the best way to go, best bang for your buck
