How does this work? I have been avoiding it but I do need to get some of my dad's guns transferred to me. He lives out of state and can't shoot much anymore.

Your dad needs to send his guns to your local FFL. Since the guns are coming from out of state, you have to go through the DROS process.

I recommend calling your FFL to confirm that they understand interstate transfers first. Some of them will not accept guns that aren't on the roster because they don't know the law.

Since they're coming out so late in the game, supply for hem will be even less than VP9s and gen 4 glocks. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them going for well above $1000. Just basic Supply and demand

And what's happened to 45 ACP bullet technology? Has it stayed the same or improved too?

9mm may have improved but it's still a pistol round. Personally I like the 9mm round and don't feel it's inadequate. But 45 acp will, likely, always be a bit better. And when one's life is on the line, a lot of people want every advantage they can get.

A bit better? At a loss of 30% or more in Ammo capacity. I'll take the 9 and just do a follow up shot lol

It was very difficult for me to shoot my M&P shield 9. I do not think I will like the .45 version any better. Excited to try it one day.
