    Ammo: Stocking Up

I've never been much of a hoarder, but over the past few weeks I've been making some significant purchases. I now have enough to keep up my normal number of range trips for two full years, and still have some in reserve. Only shooting 9mm and .45 keeps things simple.

However you feel about Trump, the political science says that what was once a very winnable race for a generic Republican is very much in question. Maybe he wins, maybe not--regardless, there are question marks now.

Plus, we have the Newsom initiative and bills in the legislature that are likely to drive up ammunition prices as we move into the fall.

Ammo is still cheap right now. Time to stock up.

I think most of us never stopped buying.

We never know what tomorrow holds, buy it today.

Duly noted. As long as they are on sales, I am in.

                  Couple years supply except .357.

Been shooting my new levergun too much.

                  Time to re-stock.

What's two years worth? In general, I have about 1500 rounds each of 223/5.56, 300 blk and 9mm, the. About 3-5k in 22lr.

I will start buying again when it hits the low hundreds. So, at the start of each cycle, I generally have 1500 rounds for that cartridge. Any more than that requires an amount of ammo cans, space and capital that I don't really wanna deal with.

I've been buying 1000rds a month, minimum. One month rifle, the next is pistol. After the Sandy Hook panic I promised myself to never again be stuck in a position that I can't shoot for fear I'll never be able to re-stock.

Buy it cheap(er), stack it deep. And f*** Newsom and the ballot initiative he's trying to ride to the governorship.

Push comes to shove, you can always drive to Vegas and pick up ammo in bulk.

I don't have the room for a 2 year supply. In handgun practice and competition ammo that that would be a lot of rounds. I re-order when I am down to 15K's worth of primers, bullets and powder (5-6 month supply). Just took advantage of Xtreme bullets 20% off sale to stock up on 180 grain .40 bullets.

Now, if Newsom's initiative passes I might have to change things a bit if it also covers components.

                            This.

Politics aside, if things are quiet and stable in regards to firearm and ammo sales, that is the time to stock up. It amazes me to no end when guys will finally pry open their wallets for ammo and stuff ONLY when the SHTF in gun stores and online retailers due to new legislation or another school shooting. For instance, after Sandy Hook, I did not buy any .22 ammo because I bought cases of it way before when it was cheap. Same with other calibers, primers, powder, etc.

When it's calm, stack it deep. If you wait until it's crazy, I have no sympathy for you.
