    Buying display case Glock 19?

I'm mostly a SIG guy and pretty new to Glocks.

About to pick one up and was curious if I should have any reservations about buying the display case beater model. I generally avoid display casers and don't know quite that much about Glocks to make the call.

If I do buy it, what areas/functions/etc should I inspect in particular?

A display case pistol is not a 'beater.' At worse, it's been dry fired a few hundred times and the slide slammed forward on an empty chamber. No biggie. It isn't like this is a year-old range rental.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a display case pistol. Often times, like the shop I work in, its the only one of a certain model we have in stock. Its not like they have been shot outside the factory. Nothing to worry about.

Everybody complains about dry firing guns, and honestly I only dry fire my personal weapons when I have a snap cap in the chamber. But, when I was on active duty, we dry fired our mk18s and sig p229s thousands of times. I never saw a single damaged firing pin.

At the rate Glocks have been flying off the shelves lately, I would inspect it and go for it.
It probably has not seen much action if the price is fair.

+1, I doubt a g19 was in the case long enough to do any damage... I've bought guns thatve been in a case for 3 yrs, I'm sure it was dry fired hundreds if not thousands of times... They have all run perfectly, the break in was already done!

If you don't buy it, I will.

Pass it up and get yourself a HK USPc 9mm ( formerly a owner of 2-G19"s)

My mistake. I believe the idiot scratch is referred to the scratches occurred by inserting the slide stops to 1911s.

they do when the idiot scratches it on the side of the display case when taking it out of the case.

Probably not what you were referring to....

I have seen plenty of display models with dings dents and scratches.. chit happens. If you check out the gun first and it is free and clear of those.. nothing to worry about. Two of my most expensive guns were display mods, and I got a decent reduction in price on both of them, worth it to me. My SP1 was a display that had a small impression mark on the stock and I got $300 off on it.. for a mark that you can barely see that I would probably put on the gun my first round of sporting clays. Better still, I had the guy bring out all 5 other SP1s they had in stock and this one far and away had the nicest wood, I would have bought it anyway.
