    Any Sig SP 2022 owners?

    Hi everyone,

I have a Sig SP2022 in jail (9mm) how's the pistol? Anyone own one that can share their thoughts on it?

I've only held it, it feels good in the hand, how does it do at the range? I've heard that your right thumb can accidentally prevent the slide lock from locking back is that true?

But overall, I've heard it's almost as good as a sig 229 or even 226. Was it a good buy?

    Thanks!

      My first firearm I owned.

Loved it at first, but I ended up selling it.

I tortured tested it, threw it in dirt, and it went bang every time. Very reliable firearm.

Yes, if you ride on the slide lock it won't lock back on the last round.

      It's basically a polymer 226.

      Enjoy!

Sig SP2022 9mm was my first hammer fired gun I've owned. Purchased this in March 2016 at Sportman's Warehouse for $400. It comes with 2 mags, holster, extra back strap and best of all internal extractor version meaning no LCI or mag disconnect. I am very please and happy in my investment. You won't be disappointed. Not for the price nor for the Sig quality:

Mine wasn't locking back and I found that I was slightly touching the slide lock as I fired it. I started exaggerating my hold, making sure I wasn't and it worked like a champ.

Overall, great gun, you will like it.

this happens with almost every semiauto out there, and can also cause FTFeeds.

i see it happen most of the time with people copying improperly the "thumbs forward" grip. They then blame the gun. Glad you figured it out!

I had one made in Germany, triple serial number (sold yesterday) and I shoot her for 2500 with ZERO issues. One of the my favorite hardware. The only reason I sold it-I wanted to buy 1911 and was needed funds. The gun was sitting in my hands like it was designed for me. Really good gun.
And there is big difference between recent US production and Germany made. Fit and finish is much better on German's, trigger is much smoother. I really regret selling her. One thing I did-I machined guide rod from Stainless Steel. I just don't believe it should be from polymer.

Love mine. It shoots straight, and has never given me any kind of trouble at all. Very easy to handle and put rounds on target. Last time I took it out I put 17 rounds in a 1 inch hole in the forehead of my target at, iirc, 5 yards.

Very reliable pistol. I thought it was shooting low until I realized and confirmed the factory installed sights are configured to use combat sighting picture.

Also, since the 9mm mags are pricey, if ever the 40/357sig mags go on sale, those work on the 9mm SP2022 too.

Definitely one of the best bang for the buck guns out there. About the only issues I've heard with them are that a few of them have weird feeling hammer drops. One buddy of mine thought that the hammer drop was completely broken - but then realized that it just requires a ton of effort. I think it loosened up a bit after a few hundred rounds.

I have one in .40 and I love it, very comfortable to shoot and never any failures after about 600 round through it.
Good choice on the 9mm, I would trade mine for that caliber for sure.
It is on my ccw, but too big for me to actually carry.
                            It's my main home defense.

I bought one earlier this year and love it. The DA/SA is very smooth IMO and I have never had any issues with it. You made a very good decision. I am the one that just bought the German SP2022 the gentleman in this thread mentioned. I loved my current SP2022 so much, i was looking for another and couldn't pass up a chance to try out the German made version. I am looking forward to it as it is in jail for 9 more days lol.
