I'm probably uninitiated in the craze but it seems people are paying more for used Glocks (gen3) than they cost new. What gives? It's not a supply/demand thing because several stores nearby stock and sell the 19 for $499 every day. Is there some allure to buying them second-hand that justifies paying at (or above) the new price? The markups ont he Gen4's are to be expected but the Gen3 markups? I don't get it.

You can skip the break-in period when you buy second hand. -
Do a search. People post what they want at the prices they want. You either buy or onto the next one.NRA Lifer

Yeah its flippin crazy. I just sold my 23 in excellent condition for $450, came with the standard stuff from the dealer plus an extended mag release. Which i thought was very fair since you can get new ones for $499 and beatup police trade ins for $400.
I saw one in the marketplace today in the east bay for $600?!? I had a real good laugh. And people think that less than 200rds makes a difference. They dont know that Glocks have polygonal rifling so 1rd down the pipe is same as 50K rds. It is practically impossible to wear out a polygonal rifled barrel.
There's just a bunch of newbies buying guns and Glocks are a solid choice that is still on the roster. Glad new people are buying guns, hope they do their homework and practice safety and responsibility.
I'll probably get another glock eventually but Ill wait for some sales and the madness to die down. I just cant decide which model I want. 9mm or 45? The 26, 19, 17, 21sf or 30sf?Last edited by Tere_Hanges; 04-15-2016, 2:39 PM.CRPA and NRA member.

For some reason, some people just don't get that
The $499 new gun is then $545. And if it's sold out unless you drive to the store that is 40 minutes away, that's 2.5 hours of driving around until you get your gun.
If the $600 minimally used one is 4 miles away from your office...it's not a big deal anymore.

Very true! I haven't bough pistol in 3 years. Until last week picking one up Tuesday, then have to wait till the 9th next month for my other one. But I still "need" a 220 combat
So im thinking about putting up my G19 for trade for one plus cash on their end
Na, I figure maybe I'll come out of pocket less....Comment
