M&P45 grips is more ergonomic than a CZ 97B's. The "groove" in the back strap/beavertail area makes it easier to hold.

G21SF grip is quite different. It is rather blocky with finger grooves.

CZ 97B grip is thick, which makes it a bit challenging to reach the DA trigger with some hands. In SA, it is not as bad. Add the weight of an all metal pistol to this thick grip, and you know you have a big gun.

You may not be familiar then with CZ Customs or Cajun Gun Works, or even GregCotteLLC, or Hakan/Marshal, etc. all of whom make or sell a flood of aftermarket parts for the 97B. CGW's 97E package makes Les Baers nervous on the bullseye line. Seekins Precision makes red dot mounts, and Dawson, Heinie, Mepro, Tru-Glo all make sights for it. Holsters from AlienGear, High Noon, plus the usual suspects. It really is harder to find the original 97 itself than it is to get aftermarket support.

Ahh ok thanks for the reply, I own an M&P and I've shot a g21sf also smaller CZ'S and they all felt great in my hands but ive always noticed that everytime a 97 conversation comes up majority of the people always bring up the thickness. So it makes me wonder how much thicker it is. So now I just need to find one lol

Here's some CZ to CZ comparisons to add to Tok36's.

The aluminum factory grips really slim down the 97. I find it comparable to the Tactical Sports, just a little blockier than the TS. The TS is much easier to find in stores, so I would say if you can comfortably handle the TS, the 97 will be no problem. I had to put slim grips on my TS because I don't have big hands.

One thing I noticed about my 97- last range trip the set screw holding the LCI assembly loosened up and the LCI plunger/spring went into space. I was letting someone shoot it when they pointed out the set screw, nice catch! CZ USA sent me the parts for free the next day. A dab of purple loctite and we are rolling again. I never paid attention to that set screw, so if you get a 97 just give that set screw a tug and enjoy shooting.

SP-01 vs 97 with slim AL grips

97 vs TS (the mag well would give a false comparison from the above perspective)

          And last, some CZ love

I installed the RRK on mine which moved the DA's static position and improved the trigger reach for the DA pull which allows me get the pad of my trigger finger perfectly without having to shift my grip due to it being wider front to rear strap. The RRK kit consists of an older 85c trigger with both pre travel / over travel adjustment set screws, a custom CGW hybrid disco to work with the RRK and short reset without the fpb. Mine came with thin aluminum grips. It also shortened the trigger pull stroke in DA.

Bob_Heartthrob: It always comes up because it is one of the very few "negatives" that people can say about it. No one gun can be perfect, right?

I have shot a CZ97B with the E package from CGW. Geez, such a fine gun. And at under $1,500, it makes it even wonderful.

Wait until you start wanting the tactical sport and accu shadow and czechmate. 97b is a budget buy.

Does anyone have a pic of the one that is on the CA approved handgun roster?

They look almost identical only differences you can spot are the old one has a standard blade front sight the new one has a fiber optic front. Also the old one has wood grips and the new one has rubber I believe. Internally the new one has an improved feed ramp as well. There may be other sight differences I don't remember.

Pretty spot on except for one correction: black aluminum grips
