As much as I like my stock Elite Match in 9mm, I will take my Cajunized CZ SP01 (still in SA/DA) in 9mm over it 6 times out of 10. Slightly related, I will take a Cajunized CZ 97B (either SAO or SA/DA) over a stock Elite Match in .45 ACP 8 times out of 10. I don't own a Cajunized CZ 97B, but have shot one many times.

This is not a fair comparison, however, as I was comparing stock guns vs customized guns. Cajun upgrades to a CZ can add up to $600 or more, depending on the upgrades, which will make that CZ cost around twice as much as a stock Elite Match (I guess old pricing of these guns) after shipping, parts, labor, etc.

As far as the Tanfoglios being the Ferrari of guns, maybe. That seems like a good analogy. I hope to shoot high end Tanfoglios, i.e. Limited, etc., some day.

I'd have to agree, which is why I kept the CGW 97B and was OK with selling my Elite Match 45.

I went on a Tanfolio craze recently and currently own a Witness Elite Match, Stock 2, Limited and Gold Team Custom. My 2 Limited's are in jail right now so once I get them back, I will compare with my Elite Match and also my CZ Tactical Sport and CGW SP-01. All comparisons will be in 9mm.

I do love my CZ's so we don't differ much in taste. I have a CGW 97B Copperhead SAO and a CZ Custom 97BD Comp Tac and like these better than my 1911's.

Let's just say that when I shot my CZ Tactical Sport and my Tanfoglio Witness Elite Match, the groupings were just slightly better with my TS but not by much. The Tanfoglio looks nicer and feels better in my hand.

I have an sp-01 and it is a great gun... I also own a Tanfo Elite limited... not sure how this compares to the elite match, but the Tanfo limited is in a completely different league tbh... the tolerances alone are insane and the trigger is in its own league... but I would not be able to get rid of my sp-01...

If you can... get both, thats what I did

That's what I wanted to hear about the Limited. I spent a pretty penny for both of my Limited's and will probably sell my Witness Match once I get them home. The Limited is suppose to compete with the CZ Tactical Sport. The Stock 2 and Stock 3 are the DA/SA guns which are suppose to compete with the CZ SP-01 Shadows.

Dont forget you can adjust the travel set screws on the trigger to get the sweet spot, but I did not need to by too much, and the break is one of the best I've felt.

I'm interested in a full size, CZ style 9mm pistol and am considering a CZ SP01 or a Tanfoglio Elite Match. When the Elite Match was $600 it was a pretty easy choice but now they are about $700 versus $650 for the CZ. This would be strictly a range gun and will not be used for defense or competition.

I really want a 1911 in 9mm that's not a 1911. I want a crisp trigger and good accuracy. The problem is that the Tanfoglio is simply unavailable in gun stores for a side by side comparison. I've handled the SP01 and it has an okay, but not great trigger. Obviously, I could spend a couple hundred extra and get a great trigger (and convert to SAO) but how does the stock trigger on an Elite Match compare? If the trigger isn't excellent, there really isn't any value to the Tanfo over a SP01.

Are stock Elite Matches good to go or should I just spend the extra cash to buy and upgrade a SP01?
OP, I've had a chance to shoot a friend's elite match... compared to the sp-01 with only a $50 price difference, you would get more bang for your buck with the tanfo... I have yet to send my sp-01 to CGW, but thats going to add quite a bit to the bottom line (Going for the copperhead package and or/the pro package).

If you dont feel like getting into the customizing game, then go with the elite match. Either way, you can do no wrong with either one.

You can't compare an sp-01 to a shadow/target. completely different guns.

Shadow vs. Tanfo, yes. totally applicable.

Compared to a standard CZ SP-01 the Tanfoglio Elite Match is hands down a better choice.I was fortunate enough to shoot the Elite Match and it was on par with my SP-01 Accu Shadow for relatively half the price. Though I love my CZ's a tanfo is definitely on my list for my next gun purchase. If the price difference is close get the Tanfoglio .

The Tanfoglio will also give you the ability to change calibers with factory conversion kits. Through EAA, the newer (after 2005) "large frame" can be converted to 9mm, 10mm, 38 super, 40 S&W, or .45 (plus specials like 9x23). If you need an ambi safety, it is a factory part. You can't do any of these modifications with a CZ.

I own a bunch of tuned czs and have shot a lot of tanfoglio

If you are talking about stock guns, tanfoglio all the way. Tuned I prefer CZ

I am also SP01 and P01 owner. But I probably would trade both for an early small frame StockII or Limited. high end Tanfo's are the $#!+

Cajun Gun Work or CZ Custom tuned CZ SP-01 are amazing but I am sure tuned Tanfoglio's will be just as awesome if not better. They definitely have a better fit and finish.

Everything from the combination lock case that Tanfoglio's come in to the hard chromed or stainless finish, this company really knows how to dress up a gun. And it's not all show and no go either.

                            Why not the Elite Limited?

I have a Stock III and an SP01. I love both but the Tanfo is just overrall a finer gun.

If I could get any Tanfo, I'd get the Stock III Extreme or Elite Gold Team. I mean you only live once.

This is WITH the firing pin block still in... the lowest I've gotten a shadow, with 100% reliability, is 1# 10oz... so who has the better trigger system? Tanfo> Cz

Edit, here is the shadow target I did

CZ SP01 or Tanfoglio Elite Match

CZ SP-01 gets my vote. Tanfoglio sucks

Ok ok. I am jealous. I don't own any Tanfoglio and I am broke...again.
