Here is a Smith and Wesson 1006 CHP Commemorative 1 of 650. This was manufactured and Purchased in 1990. All original, less than 20 rounds fired. I have the original boxes of ammo (from the 90's) with original rounds missing. Comes with one spare magazine, original cleaning kit, original letter from CHP Trust Fund, original box, everything is included. This is a very cool and collectable piece to have. The gun is pristine.

I don't see a picture, but I don't recall 1/xxx edition guns going that much over regular market for the firearm.

Is it worth $2K to you?
How likely is it that another will pop up if you let this one go?
And if one shows up, will that one be as nice as this one?

If you google it, there were plenty of talks about this gun on S&W forum. I think someone got one in 2010 for $400. Now it's 2016 and they go for $800-1000 on GB for the ones in good condition. After CA premium, I'd say 1200-1400, but that's just my estimate.

If you look on GB, there are a couple of 1006 that were bid up to $2000, but that's brand new in box.
I'd rather be at the range!

I saw the exact same gun for sale and was wondering the same thing. Was thinking about asking what the realistic price is. 2k seems like a lot of money to me, but I guess its worth what someone will pay for it.

                Would you buy this??

Yes, if money did not matter.

                No, because i am sane.

Its rare but are you going to shoot and enjoy this rare gun? Or invest in it? $2k for it is a pretty bad investment.

As you know sellers can ask crazy $$. Unless you're in love with it??!!

What other handguns could you buy for $2k? I ask myself that a lot with other guns and usually talk myself out of paying up. It's always a good feeling knowing that you have some equity in a gun you purchase just in case you must sell it. And I've found "rare" doesn't equate to "expensive"

Would I, no. If I, or my father, or my child were a current or retired CHP officer, then maybe. Not as an investment, but as a keepsake/heirloom.

I wouldn't. But I wouldn't buy a Franklin Mint commemorative Faberge Egg either.
