Yes. I have the G17 and G19. Reliable, huge after market for them.

    Enjoy, good luck.

The price is $599 minus tax and DROS.

      Is that a fair price?

Any info would be appreciated. I'm looking to buy a gun ASAP.
Was it a Gen 4? Sometimes the Gen 4's are $100.00 more. Plus you can't buy them unless you are exempt. LEO, Military.

I'm not too sure, I want to say it is, but I'll have to double check.

So if it is a gen 4, does that make it a good price?

          First, welcome to Cal Guns...

Lately many Gun Stores have been out of stock with Glocks. A slight shortage
From distributors. Politics against guns has caused a small panic and expect record gun and ammo sales thru this election cycle.

Even RIFLEGEAR is out of stock. Usually they sell for $499 which is in my opinion a fair price. Turners has a Glock sale once in a while.

I guess it depends on how bad you want a new G17. $100 bucks isn't much if
In the future Glocks Jump up in price because gun banners in Sacramento or
Hillery (who will try everything to ban guns) gets elected. I seriously expect
a Gun Frenzy and perhaps an ammo frenzy (Gavin Newsom wants to ban Internet ammo sales and require an ID card and limit how much ammo you can buy....it can get ugly) so sadly we much base our purchase on the politics of possible bans and restrictions. Rules that criminals ignore and normal folks like me and you can be declared criminals with the stroke of the Governors Pen.

I see the Ammo Brothers lists the G17 at $650.....out of stock.....so maybe
          $599 isn't so bad.

          Be well
          Bob.

You can't buy a Gen 4 because a Gen 4 is not approved on the roster of handguns approved by the State.

You can buy a used one from a Private Party but you will pay a premium
              Like $800 and up.

              Focus on a Gen 3.

Please try a few different handguns out before you buy. I did not like the grip angle, I'm used to shooting a 1911. The Glock is a great pistol, just not for me. Find a range that has rentals and try a few out, yes it will cost some $, but this kind of research is FUN. Just remember, find out what works for you.

If you really like the Glock after shooting it, buy one. If money is tight, look at the S&W SD9VE. It's based on the Glock, but the trigger needs help. Apex makes a trigger kit that really helps. Check out the for sale section, you may find one with the APEX kit installed for a great price.

I definitely recommend renting a couple of options if you possibly can. The Glock 17 is a perfectly decent gun. People with small hands often prefer the Glock 19. So even within the Glock brand you can get personal aspects to it.

For home defense you're probably also going to want to put a light on it, do LOTS of practice including being able to walk around the house without accidentally firing a round (keep that finger out of the trigger guard unless you intend to shoot something that instant), buy and test some quality defense grade ammo. It's something of a project to do it right.

This one will be for home protection, but I will definitely be thoroughly testing once I get it.
Go to a range and rent a few to see what you like and can best handle. And take a Hunter Safety or NRA Firearm Saftey Class. Then go buy.

IMO, a revolver would be better suited to a new owner, new shooter. You can pick up a Ruger SP101 or GP100 in .357 Magnum, and that allows you to down load to 38 SPL if the instructions say so and many do.

Glock is an excellent gun, BUT....since it's your first gun & you're new to shooting, extra caution is needed.

As you've probably noticed while handling a Glock, the trigger is rather light & there is no manual safety. Unlike a Double-Action revolver, a Glock's trigger is around 5.5 lbs. D.A. revolvers are usually 10-13 lbs. Therefore, trigger discipline must be a habit - finger outside the trigger guard unless actually shooting; that includes checking out a noise in the house as well as at the range. And, never shove a Glock with a round chambered into the waistband or pocket without a rigid holster that completely covers the trigger guard. And, care must be taken to ensure no clothing, drawstrings, etc. get into the holster. That has caused messy accidents.

When you read or hear that the Glock has three safeties, they are referring to passive safeties - that prevent the gun from firing if it is dropped. When anything pulls the trigger, all of the passive safeties are deactivated.

No, what it is is theft. Get one used for 425. Check armslist.

Also check area pawn shops they will usually negotiate any price so long as you have cash.
PawnMart in Norwalk carries both New and Used Guns look them up if you get a chance, ask for Frank or Jessie, tell them I sent you.

Yeah, their website says "about 5.5" but they're actually 6.5-7.0 with current production.

Big thing with any gun without a manual safety is if you holster it with your finger on the trigger is it's going to go off. That's why you hear about cops shooting themselves in the leg with Glocks. Don't do that.
