Yes, if you want to keep seating depth to book 10mm values, only heavier projectiles fit and still have some bullet being held by the case mouth using the 40 case. I am a heavy for caliber guy (no interest is light and fast), so it works for me.

A couple of the most advanced (from a pressure standpoint) over on the GT forums discovered the strength of 40 case. A couple are loading 40S&W specs (OAL) and running them up into 10mm velocities with no ill effects. One guy runs his hot 40 at 10mm levels out of his Glock 40S&W guns all the time.

Just a little beyond my comfort zone.

I did the hot rod loads and some of my brand new virgin 10mm brass almost ruptured. I'm happy with 1200 FPS 200 grain hardcast. I had some very nice gas checked 200 grain hard cast I bought at a gunshow in SLC UT. Shot very accurate and not a sign of leading. The 10mm packs a lot of power. Imagine having 18 rounds of 10mm with my STI mags.

If I want more power the DEagle in 44 mag it is, but it's unwieldy, big and holds 8 rounds. My Ruger SRH 454 is about the most fun I can comfortably handle.

200gr of hard cast going 1200fps will make two holes in just about anything in NA, anything more than that is just surplus recoil.

In my experience hotrodding 10mm, how brass holds up is as much about the gun, chamber and timing as it is chamber pressure. In my experience, more is not always better.

I know a retired CHP whose EDC is a really well worn 1911. He runs his own 200gr LSWC with target levels of Red Dot powder. Nobody wants to get into a gunfight with that guy, 10mm nuclear whatever... Whoever squares off against that guy better get him first with the first shot, after that, good night.

10mm is the only caliber you need. Period. You don't need a 9mm or a 40 S&W or a 45 ACP. If you reload, you have many choices in loading the 10mm. I equate the 10mm Auto to the 357 mag in versatility and power. If you reload you can use a 135 grain HP bullet with 7.5 gains unique. This is a high velocity round, accurate with low recoil. Great round for HD. You don't need a 9mm which would still probably hurt your hearing if shot indoors without ear protection. (Never shot a pistol in an enclosed house). If you want something harder hitting, use a 180 grain HP bullet with 10.2 grains of Blue Dot. (I wouldn't shoot this load indoors without hearing protection). If you hunt you can use the heavier 200 gr bullet. If you own a pistol in 10mm pistol, you don't need another hand gun in a different caliber. Period. Unless you want to collect pistols like myself. I luv my G20SF, it is my choice for home defense. I have many choices of pistols in my collection for HD, yet, the Glock G20SF is my choice.

Fair points, but I don't reload and don't plan to start any time soon, I already don't have enough free time as it is. It's worth it to me to pay 4x as much for my ammo if I don't have to make it, though I fully understand why most people would disagree

I love my early production Delta Elite. I have an ambidextrous safety and Crimson Trace grips on it. I am thinking hard about a 9x25 Dillon barrel for it. Bar-Sto can supply a drop-in barrel and dies are available. Alas, too many ideas and not enough time.

I am looking at a G20 because, unlike members who value concealable frames, I'd like a large frame.

The idea of shooting .40 rounds at the range is also appealing, and the G20 seems suited for this. Also, I will not reload so costs could be lowered by training with .40 in the G20.

My questions: is this a reasonable approach, and do users with large hands have any complaints on the fit of the SF g20 variant?
