Yep. Because law enforcement stops an active shooter - NEVER.

News flash - defending your life against an active shooter is self defense.

I am fully trained with a handgun. I am willing to bet no one in this thread has shot even once in self defense.

Carry your J frame. Don't come crying to me when Mohammed chops your head off because your rounds weren't on the mark and you ran your gun dry.

    Lazy people.

You don't happen to work at a mall, do you? Perhaps as part of a highly-specialized anti-terrorist team? Do you, by any chance, carry a breakdown NEF single-shot 300 WinMag with an 18" barrel in a briefcase? Or duct tape armor plates to the back of your clothing?

If head shots are unrealistic, you need to train more. The Jihadi's will likely be wearing body armor and/or have a bomb strapped to their chest.

Just because you carried the wrong weapon for 20 years, doesn't mean it is the right choice for 2016. You got lucky in the past. You may not be lucky in the future.

Mouse guns and J frames are lazy. Don't be lazy.
If you buy anything because it has "tactical" or "operator" in the name, we probably don't run in the same circles.

Another retired LEO. Still carry everyday split 75/25 J-frame or Glock 19. I only shoot 5-6 times per year and usally am putting 300-500 rounds down range from these two guns (or similar .22 converstion kits).

I am not too worried about the active Jihadi snackbar shooter. Situational awareness is definitely more important and watching where and what i am doing.

I am comfortable in my abilities and observing what is happening.

Carry a gun that you are comfortable with, train with and gives you the best possible trade offs for what you 'may' face on a day to day.

I worry more about the knucklehead coming up to rob me fore $50 than a San Bernardino type incident.

Is this being moved to O/T now?
The inconvenience of poor quality lingers long after the thrill of a good bargain.

I'll buy that guy a week in the Tenderloin or Skid Row in LA next week when GA money is gone and the smokers go crazy.

The deal is he has to find a job that day. Then he has to spend 8pm-midnight every night hanging out with a case of beer + carton of cigarettes by his feet.

I'm curious if this guy learns to make friends, and identify threats without making a bad decision.

                  Bonus points for getting laid.

Not true. I know of one member here that has an AR pistol on his CCW.
                    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Well Doheny, it appears you are correct. Now take me on the other hand. I train fellow LEOs (POST firearms instructor) yet I will be the first to admit I am not "fully trained". There is always something to learn and I actively seek out new training opportunities from a variety of instructors. I don't think I've ever met anyone that's "fully trained" before. I am impressed.

J frames are not gecko45 approved. So now you know.

I guess there was some sort of emergency at the mall, and he had to go rescue the mayor's nephew. Oh well, it is good to see that he still has work. I am glad to know that he is fully trained with a handgun now. It probably compliments the mastery he has in 3 martial arts (including ninjitsu). But I wonder if he has practiced using a handgun while he wears the special boots that let him climb the walls?

As a person fully trained with a hand gun you should be aware that the purpose of a handgun is to get to your rifle. If you are engaging an active shooter (whom, according to you, is wearing body armor or a bomb vest) with a hand gun you are making the wrong decision.

Id rather be lazy and alive thanks. And IF that situation arises then Ill use my 38 wheel gun to get the hell out of the area. If I ever start carrying a trunk gun then maybe Ill consider abandoning my family outside and playing hero.
