One example if not already mentioned would be a package set of guns. A python boa set is worth more with sequential serial numbers.Last edited by meno377; 02-25-2016, 9:59 PM.Originally posted by FjoldI've been married so long that I don't even look both ways when I cross the street.Nothing is so permanent as a temporary government program.

My grandfather in 1936 purchased two factory ordered Smith & Wesson Registered Magnums, sequentially numbered. I have one of the pair, and my liberal, Bay area cousin has the other. Interestingly, he has retained all the paperwork and factory box. His adult children have no interest, so I think I will end up with it, as long as they don't give it to the smelter for some stupid gift card.Comment

Actually getting sequentially numbered guns these days is more difficult than you might think. Most places purposely mix up the serial numbers so people checking the guns in and out of the FFL books don't get lazy and assume the next number. So if ten 9mm Shields show up, none will be sequential.
Many manufacturers will send us guns numbered whatever we want on request.www.spencersfirearms.com

^^ true and it is goofy to pay more.
I can see the #1 and #2 of the production for a pair of punisher 1911s or SASS six shooters. It is slightly ($5 worth) better than otherwise. But, no one checks the serial number of a gun when shooting. It is only the seller who claims it Super Cool.
If you paid you become the next to hype it.
Does any one ever look at the serial numbers on Cameras, Computers, Cars, etc ?? Guns are the same when it comes to serial #.Comment

Wow, I bought three AR lowers and they have sequential numbers. Once built, I can sell them for like $15k because they're sequential, eh?
Or maybe I'll just stay with the original plan under which I gave one to each of my grandsons and they know it's a set for them.Comment

Kind of pointless after you sell one of the 2 ....

I was just using Kimber as a reference as I've read many times that they have the majority of the market share in the 1911 market. Colt is definitely a more widely known name.
Some people will pay more for specific numbers. Just look at all the custom license plates on the cars out there. They are paying more each year in registration.Comment

For 50% of people, they recognize a serial number. 50% of people do not know what a serial number is and that is why Bubba's grandpa put his driver's license number on Hitler's Luger.
