Why do 1911 guys have to put down Glocks?

It seems that the more a person spends on a purchase the more they feel the need to tell others how great and how much better it is than everything else.

I enjoy owning both guns but the 1911 fans are much more defensive and annoying.

Actually, the thread started with an attempt to put down a 1911...
So, yeah... It seems there is a definite divide out there, where guys that like Glocks will trash 1911s and guys that like 1911s will usually respond with trashing Glocks.

I own both, I like both, I think both are great. And I still recommend Glocks to people looking for a polymer framed pistol. They are easy to shoot, and easy to maintain, and they are inexpensive (relatively).

I own a 26, 19 (gen 4), 17, 30 (gen 4), and until recently a 21 (not SF). Want to get 36, 43, 41,

So, bottom line, I simply don't get why people trash either, and when I see trashing I tend to jump in.

Well I'm new to firearms, and I gotta say my first pistol was a Glock 17 I bought 2 months ago and I pick up a springfield loaded 1911 on Tuesday. Didn't realize there was such a rivalry between these guns, but I like them both!

I think I'll just leave this right here.....

They look best w/o the extra grooves on the front of the slide.

I can't imaging why they would be neccessary.

My 80's stainless Officers doesn't need them.
