    i owned a xd9 and have shot a glock but that was a while so i'll go on what i remember

    looks= xd

    extra safety features = xd

    trigger = dont know but i dont like xd trigger

    weight = glock

    aftermarket = glock

    i sold my xd because i couldnt get used to the trigger and it just felt too heavy. if i were to get a glock it would be a glock 19 but i cant get over how ugly it is. also i dont know how much better is a glock trigger

    i say M&P is a nice compromise

        Both my G34 and G21 have been flawless through thousands of rounds(G34) many times without cleaning or relubing for 800-900 rounds. That won me over. My G21 even had a pretty severly chipped extractor that still ejected the spent casings just fine. It probably had less that 25% of its original "hook" left. I have shot an XD once but unless i got a XD in a raffle or someone gave me one i wouldnt give up something i know to work for something new.

          Block... That's funny. My buddy and I have had this discussion a few times and with others. I don't own a Glock. I look at the firearms as tools and art. There is a certain esthetics to firearms, looks, contrasts, shape and lines. I love my Sigs. I am a revolver fan because of the mechanics and balance of looks and feel.

          That being said, as a tool, I consider Sigs, and some 1911 styles along with a couple others as the Snap-On of firearms while I think of the Glock as the Craftsman. The Glock does the same job for less money but I don't get any feeling of ownership from one. It is just a tool that works with no fanfare. It is the one gun that if I did own it and something happened to it I wouldn't really care, I would just replace it with another one that was exactly the same.

            I like the feel of it in my hand, when I buy a gun I know I will use alot, I go for the feel, if it feels right get it and fit like a glove get it.

                Glock started the plastic revolution and still dominate, XD, HK, all else follow suit. Glocks are still affordable, reliable ,light and holds value..

                  Actually, the first polymer gun on the market was the HK VP70.

                  EDIT: Actually, I should clarify that the VP70 was the first polymer pistol out, handily predating Glock, but I can't say that the VP70 was the first firearm of any type to use polymer.

                    Incorrect. The H&K VP70z started the plastic revolution.

                      XD !

                      My husbands glocks seem to kick brass right back at me... forehead, right eye/ear. He seems to think it's the firmness of my wrist, but when shooting my 1911's or his recently aquired XD-45, no problems.

                        It is your limp wristing it. Glocks have a tendency to do that. I was in a pistol class and we had to shoot hundreds of rounds through the course of the weekend and when my hands and wrists started to fatigue thats when the brass was coming back at me. Dont feel bad its common

                          Your either a Glock person or your not, I do recognize them as an absolutely fantastic gun, but I could never own one, they just don't fit my hand, the angle of the grip is just all wrong.

                          So I went with the XD's and have never looked back.

                            I like Glocks fine, but they don't fit my hand as well as my XDs.
                            I find the grip angle on the XDs so close to my 1911s, it's easier for me to switch back and forth with the same muscle memory so it's XDs for me.
                            Your results may vary.

                              Glock, BUT I've seen shooters play the XD like a friggin' Stradivarius in IDPA. I can't do the same so it's Glock, almost by default. Maybe the 4th Gen Glock frame will push me further into their court.. here's hoping.

                                When my Glock wears out I'll see what else is on the market.
