    686+ vs 686

So im going to pull the trigger and finally get a Smith and Wesson 686, however my gun dealer does not have my optimum configuration, my preferred would be a 686+ with a 4 inch barrel. What they do have:

    686 4 or 6 inch $595

    686+ 2.5, 3, or 6 inch $615

This is a range toy only, will not be carrying or home defensing.

So either a 686 4 inch or a 686+ 6 inch what say you Calguns?

          for being a range gun, I think 6 is good vs 4. I have a 6" .357 magnum as a range gun.

            My 2.5" is a blast.
            Someday, I'll pick up a 6" no-dash to match

Don't settle. Wait. Get what you really want. It's not like you need to have one right now.

For range use, get the 6-inch. The longer sight radius is easier to shoot well and the longer barrel will be slightly less noisy and less blast. I have a 6-inch Python for the range and 2 4-inch .357s for carrying and defense.

i would opt for a 4" pre-lock which would also be a good camping companion and optimal for HD.

Gotta agree with a few of the above: don't settle for what your dealer has in inventory, get what you want. Even if it means a bit of a wait.

A few weeks of waiting will be far better than a lifetime of regret.

Those are great prices, I would say 686+ for sure. Can't go wrong with either barrel length.
