Kids will all be making fun of the guy now.

    Children can be SO cruel.

A buddy who eventually became a cop after getting thrown out of a Reserve position got back into the game as a Juvi Hall guard.

I'd THINK being a Juvi LEO would be like becoming a motorcycle (or aircraft) cop only AFTER better than average work as a regular guy, being how kids are all vulnerable etc.

I understand that training will help prevent or at least reduce these type of incidents with Glocks and other handguns with similar triggers. Finger on the trigger or an item getting caught between the trigger and holster will pretty much spells disaster. Can it happen with a 1911 or a firearm with an actual safety lever? Not trying to make this a 1911 vs Glock issue.

How often does anyone here train reholstering their primary and secondary handguns? All the time right? When you dry fire you reholster and that's training. Do you do it while wearing different coats or windbreaker jackets with different strings, straps or other material that can get lodge between tigger and holster? How about reholstering while trying to manage to hold someone down or trying to accomplish another task. When you multi task yourself it seems holstering the gun can be easily done. That's when disaster strikes when you can't pay attention to a simple task as holstering your gun.

reason i aint a fan of the glock type triggers or any that have no external safety.I recently got a glock too for a camp gun but im also the type whos finger is out of the trigger area and cautious that i dont bump it against anything that could get in the trigger guard too.

I guy I like and respect who works for another department in my area just shot heels in the hand with his glock a week ago. I don't blame the glock, it's operator error. He's a firearms instructor and a 20+ year cop. No excuses, he F'd up and paid the price.
Buying a safe and sane firework is like paying a hooker for a hug. I do not see the appeal in it.

                      Exactly!

did they say why the guy unholstered his weapon at a juvenile center to begin with?

Before you jump in that new car...

...and drive over to pick up your, Winner Winner Chicken Dinner reward, remember this:

Someone, and it wasn't me, anointed, this...this person, as 'Trained'. Otherwise he would not packing heat on the job. And speaking of trained people...

I do recall, it's been +10 years, some A Class or Master Class IPSC shooter inadvertently shooting & killing himself with a Glock, on a Southern California range while practicing for some up coming match. Can anyone substantiate that or am I foolishly repeating past dope smoking antigun anti Glock hit pieces?

If it's run like police stations, guns are unholstered & put in a locker before entering certain areas with an inmate, then guns are recovered & reholstered when leaving that area.
