The OPs Python can be easily restored with some TLC, time and polish, that cut on that barrel is a very hard part to replace.

      Do not use Steel Wool.

Bronze Wool, and also a smal Bronze 'Tooth Brush' style Brush.

Those two and a light Oil, and you can remove the tiny Oxidation blooms which have come up through the Nickel.

I would think putting it in a tumbler for polishing brass would polish that up without pitting. I have never tried it, just throwing it out there. You might want to try it on an old stainless steel part first to see what it does. You should take it apart first. Then clean it carefully to get all of the media out of it. You might want to put something on the center bolt to protect the finish from the threads. I read something about somebody doing that somewhere on the net.

I wonder if the guy who did this participated in the alcohol/gun use
poll in the general gun discussion? Pete

Good luck, part of my soul just died. Funny though that that pistol has been in the safe but Rick Grimes' wheel gun doesn't have a lick of zombie blood or rust... especially being in Georgia.
