    New Ruger Striker-Fired 9mm

Looks interesting - something of a hybrid between a VP9 and a TP9SA...I kinda dig the looks of it (better than the SR9 IMO). MSRP is $579, so good competition if its sub-400 gun.

Sturm, Ruger & Co.appears to be set to release a brand new handgun for SHOT Show 2016.An FFL on Facebook apparently received the new gun ahead of Ruger’s announcement, most likely scheduled for the NSSF Shot Show.

And yes - in before the inevitable comments about being off-roster, LEO only or out of state mom/dad gifts transfers, PPT etc - we all have beaten that dead-horse already...

You left out "I would NEVER buy anything associated with Bill Ruger".

At least Ruger tries to improve their product line. Unlike some companies that rhyme with C**k. The 43 arrived 5 years too late and my guess is metal sights and replaceable backstraps are only 10 years away.

Some people are still bitter because we still have to live with his legacy (magazine capacity ban and assault weapon ban).

+1 on continuing to trying to evolve & develop new products and not rehashing the same old stuff.

It's going to come down to price. Ruger has some very nice offerings in the lower price ranges that provide quite a bang for the buck.

Love them or hate them, every Ruger I handled has been an honest and well built gun.

It looks like they got one thing right, IMO.

I've never figured out why the replaceable backstraps that come with so many of today's polymer guns only change the thickness of the grip, or make the portion of the grip where your palm sits bigger. None of them reduce actual trigger reach, the distance between where the web of your hand sits and the trigger, and make it shorter as you go down in sizes.

This model actually seems to change physical trigger reach distance by changing the backstraps. Finally, someone who appears to have gotten it right. Make the grip as small as possible, then work your way up to larger sizes, not start at medium and offer a small backstrap that doesn't change anything. Just seems to make more sense to me.

The Federal ban on 10+ mags and "Assault Weapons" expired in 2004.
Bill Ruger's suggestion for a 15 round mag capacity limit (and it was only a suggestion) was back in 1993.
(Again, the talk at the time was a 6 round max mag capacity for all guns...the same as revolvers...far worse than a 15 round proposal).

CA did their own thing with 10+ mag and AW restrictions / bans starting in 2000.
                        Bill Ruger was not involved.

Perhaps the best part of this gun?

Dovetailed front sight and Novak rear meaning 1911 sights will fit. Ruger got this one right and I hope more companies will follow suit.

It looks like they forgot to take it out of a microwave before taking photos.
