I have never had one. I do not anticipate buying one either, because I am poor. I am good with my Smith & Wesson.

I had two. The rare .38spl target, and a run of the mill four inch. I sold both of them. I like S&W revolvers.

Had 3, bought one new and two used, and just recently sold the LNIB one to fund my last SSE purchase last year. They really are nice.

My older used one was an ex-CHP duty gun and I bought it to carry on duty...switch it from a 6" barrel to a 4" barrel. When I switched over to a semiauto for duty, I switched it back to a 6" barrel and shot it in PPC competitions.

The hardest thing about a Python is finding a good pistolsmith to tune them. I was very lucky to have known a couple of really good ones.

They were usually called Smolts (when built on a M19) or Cougers (when built on a Ruger Security-Six)...at least that is how the guys in the shop that built them referred to them

I have a 1975 2.5" that I inherited years ago. Unfortunately, no box, so not pristine, but pretty good.

I had one until just a few months ago. I figured for the $800 I spent on it versus the $2,000 I sold it for help me out enough when I moved with my expenses that it was worth selling. I barely shot it and it was almost pristine with the exception of one little scratch towards the muzzle. It didn't do anything any better than a 686 would do for a fraction of the price, or even a Ruger gp100 in my case

Bought a new 4" blue Python in 1979 as my first duty gun. Paid 350.00. Still enjoy shooting it from time to time. Plan on passing it down to my grandson so he can show his kids grandpa's old shootin iron.

Some here would have you believe they are as rare as the horn of a Unicorn, or at least that is what they tell themselves when putting them up forsale. It has become laughable to see the price for a 6 inch blue in just reasonable condition. Snub nose will gobble your wallet, but really $3000 for a 6 inch blue

I got into revolvers about 3 years ago ....

Bought up (5) 586 / 686 prelocks in 4" & 6" and did a lot of shooting with these models. They are very fine handguns.

Next up was some snakes .... Pythons. 2.5 (sold), 6" in blue and SS, and a 4" blue.

When I go to the range, the 6" SS goes every time. It is the sweetest shooting gun in my group. I have a friendly running completion with my buddy, and he
is starting to cry foul play when I use it.

All these collectors that are looking and not shooting these snakes are nuts.
