I guarantee within 3 months, there will be at least one of these "brand new" in the marketplace with a "full" retail price for it...

IDK why people give Kimber a hard time, but I've had surface rust on other brands' barrels/frames. This is a SS Springfield A1, I bought it in 2007, rust on barrel happened in 09.

****. I'm glad I don't have a Turner's near me or else I'd kick myself in the *** for paying retail for my Custom II. It's a great 1911, especially for that price.

"IDK why people give Kimber a hard time, but I've had surface rust on other brands' barrels/frames."

On my Kimber, it was the only gun in the safe to develop a rust spot while stored identically to all the others....I like the gun but the question about rust was asked.

So did anyone manage to pick one up?
The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." - Thomas Jefferson (quoting 18th century criminologist Cesare Beccaria)"

I heard kimber is not renewing there pistol on the roster. Don't know if it's true or not but wondering if Turner's is blowing out their stock of kimbers. That seems like a great price.

How much profit can you make ??? Turner's prices are on the higher end to start. They give you $200 off. You pay sales tax and DROS fees. You time to go to turner's to buy the gun and again to pick it up. And then ting to sell it takes time and again going to the gun store to do the PPT. In the end you make $50 - $75 bucks. Not worth the hassle. Just my opinion. .

I've read " plenty " of internet " cases " though. My 3 Kimbers don't have the rust issue.
That seems really bad. Like, if it was a minor issue, I would expect you to have said, "I've only seen ONE!" or something like that. For one person to have been showed three...

That looks like it got pretty wet- all that rust on the spring? I would have a hard time believing that was just atmospheric conditions, and if it was, it was BAD weather to have a firearm and not clean it.

Well, if you think that is bad, so be it. I for one, will not be disuaded in buying Kimbers. My point is...... I've fondled " many " 1911s of different makes and model, Colts, SA's, Kimber's, SW, etc.

I've only seen 3 Kimbers with rust on the barrel (in answering one of the posters) and it wasn't that bad, meaning they are not deep seated rust but more like a very superficial black smudge. it can easily be scrapped away with my finger nails. Truth be told, I've also seen rust on stainless Springfield and Colts, though not on the barrel. BUT, that is a whole different story, one that is irrelevant to the poster's question. The poster was SPECIFICALLY asking about Kimbers, not rust that I've seen in OTHER brands.

I'd still buy a Kimber, though not the uber-expensive models.
