Solid advice, and that goes without saying; I do both of those things regularly too. Next class I'm taking is in early Nov.

CZ P09. Slightly more $ but a great duty pistol in 9MM.

CZ 75b SA. Normally I would say the SP01, but for the range, single action is nice. Looked at one last night. Very tempting.

I don't think you can find a 9mm 1911 for $5-700. I wish I could because I would buy it. Cheapest I have seen used lately is $900.

A lot of fun hiding in those pistols you excluded as well ...

                    Maybe a 10mm or a multi-caliber pistol (9/40).

Would have to agree that a Blackhawk in 44 is not too stout for range fun.

You could buy a RIA 1911 in .38 Super and get a 9mm barrel.

Last year, yes. There is a guy on Calguns asking $1100. Good gun.

Forgot about that. Will have to look into that again.

Unfortunately, the X5 is not is in the $500 - $700 price range that the OP has the budget for :-)

With $700 budget, you should get a CZ SP01. Later down the road when you have some extra cash you can send to CGW for trigger works. I like to shoot my CGW CZ SP01 than my Dan Wesson PM9 (which is a nice 1911 in 9 mm).
