I like the XD series and they fit me better than most other brands (hk, glock, etc). Has nothing to do w/ price as I like my Sigs too. Others who have shot my xd like the fit but not the sights usually. oh well.

Well, that explains allot! Karlovacko is the Budweiser of Croatia."Manufactured in the city of Karlovac, Croatia by HS Produkt (formerly I.M. Metal), the Springfield Armory XDM is the marketing name for the weapon, which is licensed and sold in the US by Springfield Armory, Inc."
I am not saying they are a bad weapon, I actually like them, only that they are not made by Springfield

Nikon sells cheap Digital cameras.
Singer sells sewing machines made in China.
Toyota used OEM re-branded BFGoodrich tires that were actually made by Yokohama (back in the 1980's).
Cadillac put their name on a re-badged Chevy Cavalier.
Sears sells made in China garbage branded as Craftsman.
And on and on and on...
At least the XD is a good gun. I do not know that I would accuse Springfield of being Sinister or deceptive.

My XDs's are superior to my POS Ruger that had to be replaced because of a broken frame after only a couple hundred rounds.I've heard that they are decent guns. I personally know one guy who likes his.
But it is deceptive and maybe a bit sinister to sell a Croatian made gun emboldened with a historic name like Springfield. Screams sacrilege actually. Like a BMW labeled motorcycle, made by Kymco in China. Those exist too. Anything that isn't really want it proposes to be is a fraud. And I'll take my business elsewhere.
I try to buy American unless a foreign made product is superior in quality or reliability. I see neither in the xd.sigpicComment

just food for thought, not to derail this thread entirely..I've heard that they are decent guns. I personally know one guy who likes his.

you do know that Springfield Armory Inc is a private company that started in the 70's and not the USGI arsenal that closed in the 60's after nearly 200 years of operation?
there was also fairly widespread disain for the Imbel 1911 frames they used from Brazil for almost everything short of their custom shop guns.. but much like the xd's, very little to zero quality issues actually attributed to being imported..
someone please correct me, but I believe Springfield stopped importing Imbel frames recently..I started out with nothing - and I still have most of itComment

Yep, primarily because of what you stated in the above paragraph.just food for thought, not to derail this thread entirely..

Whoever makes them, they do a good job. I have XD9s in Service and Tactical and would not hesitate grabbing either in a critical situation.sigpicComment

Complete pistols too not just frames and slides, i have a Brazilian made Loaded. Brazilian made frames and slides which had more than 50% of the assembly done in the US were marked Made in Geneseo, IL and have NM prefix in the serial number.
You are correct that they haven't had any Brazilian made 1911's in about 2 years. Recently, most have had NM prefixed serial numbers.Comment

It's not fraud. There's no mystery or attempt to cover up where it's made. It's no more fraudulent than an American made Glock. Since Glocks were originally made in Austria, is it sinister or deceptive that there's American made Glocks now?
I prefer to base decisions on quality and performance in relation to price. The XD is a solid gun for the price. So is the Glock. If it's a good gun it's a good gun, no matter where it's made.Comment
