    Springfield XD series Popularity?

I own all kinds of polymer handguns, and I have to bring up a subject that I just do not understand. I know Springfield Armory is famous for their 1911's. But im here to talk about the polymer striker fired world. Why aren't the Springfield XD's (XDM/XD mod.2.0) more popular in the self defense/protect home/tactical classes/go to war gun world ? Especially this brand new 4" Mod.2 9mm ) I would love to have that! anyways back to my argument. The XD lineup brings so much to the table I don't get why more people don't use them.. ITs all glock this M&P that. When you guys get a chance, check out what XD is all about. I feel they are made extremely well and the attention to detail and the overall feel of the firearm is on point. I am a Springfield fan and I have no problem with a springfield by my bed to protect home and family or out on the range in the tactical class world. The only problem I have with Springfield is they don't show us Californians any love with the newer stuff.. If I could buy that new Mod2 9mm 4'' xd with that new grip zone I would do it tomorrow. SHOW US in CA some love Springfield we will love you forever lol

I've got the XDs 3.3, XDM 3.8 and XDM 5.25 and love them all and I'm a Sig guy. The ergo's of the XDM rival the VP9 and even though they have a little high bore axis they're very easy to control. Put the PRP trigger on there and you'll see what the next level is all about.

I think what puts a lot of people off are the styling, grip safety and LCI. I tend to see those comments a lot. I often see that they think it's either ugly, or some derivative of "less is more".

That said, I love my XD 5" with the PRP trigger.

Roster prevent the Mod2 (as with the M and S models).

Mod2 is basically an original XD with cosmetic differences. Although Mod2 has a 3.3" .45acp model, so we are missing out on that combination.

I like the XD's, some minor gripe about them myself (what gun does not have issues), but all in all it's a good pistol. +1 on prp.

Got an XD SC, a 5.25 XD, and a regular size XDM, all in 9mm. They're all solid guns, but far from being my favorite. I don't lije the trigger, and the ergonomics isn't that great for me either (it's better on the XDM). They are top-heavy (more so than Glocks or M&Ps), and the bore axis is higher than I prefer (not a big fan of SIGs either). So, to each his own.

The Springfield XD series of pistols are well made, reliable, and demonstrate good accuracy. Many folks like the deep inlet on the backstrap which allows smaller hands a secure grip and a better trigger reach than comparable Glock models. However, there isn't the aftermarket support for the XD design like there is for the M&P and the Glock, the sights can't be changed out reliably without sending the pistol back to the factory, their durability comes in a distant third behind the other two brands based on reports from both private owners and two local ranges nearby, and the XD models demonstrate an unsettling feel when fired. I can't quite put my finger on just what it is. They feel good in my hand when holding them but when fired there is a hard-to-describe feeling that convinced me not to add one to my collection. It was kind of like accidently seeing one's own grandmother naked.

They are a good solid service gun, if it works for you drive on. I had two a FS XDm in .40 and a XDsc in 9mm I liked them, but not as much as Glocks. Sold them both.

Not big fan of xd, but I do like their xds and xdm series. They do make excellent condition 1911s and rifles like M1A.

I own several XD's in different barrel lengths and calibers.. The biggest problem with them that I've seen is the finish rubs off from using a holster and their magazines are kind of weak... I have a .40 cal that has about 10,000 rounds through it and I had to replace a magazine... It really needs to be refinished. That being said My wife doesn't care for it due to the grip safety. I am used to it from shooting a 1911 for so long.

Calguns goes through fad stages like anything else. Everyone has ran XD's to ground and have moved on. CZ's seem to be the flavor of the month.

It's hard to resist when they are about $400 new and Springfield has free mag promos all the time. I'm going to pick up a V10 ported to play around.

                      You operators have fun.

Not an xd fan personally (a bunch of friends are).

Seen too many friends go down in range or class. That said all guns go down but a lot of my friend's xds have issues

^^^ this. The xds is great but the sights are just stupid hard to work with. Don't think I'd ever buy a xd.

I love mine. Bought it back in 2004 and have put thousands of rounds through it.

I recommend an XD9 and G19 to anyone looking for their first handgun.
