Question though... Since storing fully loaded obviously weakens the spring, after you get it to where you like it how long is it safe to store them loaded without possibly having future spring issues?

Springs will always eventually wear out, but how long it takes depends on how often you use them. It takes a very long time though, especially in Glocks. Glock springs have a very long life span. But once they wear out u can just purchase the springs themselves. New Glock springs run about $5-$6.

Check out this thread starting from post #16. Apparently this guy has the opposite problem. According to him, he can slip 11 40 cal rounds in his Glock 22 mag.

I think he is either miscounting the rounds or he is stuffing a couple of 9mm in it.

It may be "obvious" to you, but it isn't true. Upon the first time a mag is fully loaded, the spring will take a certain 'set.' However, leaving the magazine loaded will not weaken a mag spring. Repeated loading and unloading weakens springs.

I had the same problem with my G30. An enlightened individual at Glocktalk.com recommended shaving off about 1/8" of material from the bottom of the follower. Did that to all 5 of my mags and have been able to load 10 rounds without sore thumbs since and can truly have 10 + 1 capacity. I haven't had any failures whatsoever in 1400 rounds.
