Nice to see this thread has stayed so civil on such a sensitive topic!!!

I personally only own one Glock, a Glock 30sf- love 10+1 .45 acp in that size package.

I bought a new gen 3 Glock 17 about 4 yrs ago. Took to range and never shot so poorly with a 9mm in my life, and I own all types of different brands of 9's.

Went back next 2 weekends to the range and could not hit a darn thing no matter how I tried to adapt. When standing in living room and brought it up to line up sights quickly, only handgun I owned where sights just did not naturally line up- just not a natural POA for me at all.

Am I bashing Glocks? Not at all, I think they're great handguns and completely see why a lot of people on this forum have a lot of them. I actually wish I shot them better as would make buying much easier decision for me cause such a simple and effective platform.

I just didn't feel like spending money on 2-3k rds of ammo to learn how to shoot it well when I could buy all sorts of other 9 mm's that out of the box w no mods I shoot much better.

Glock great platform, just not for me. I do own one HKUSP9c and really like it. Bought it used few yrs ago and could tell had been put through some hard use. Forget round count seller claimed but I don't care, love fact my V1 can go cocked and locked 1911 style if want and although non of my semis has ever jammed on me including all my 1911's, w all sorts of ammo- something about that beat up HK I bought where that would be the one handgun I bring w me if had to bug out for good.

Certainly understand the appeal of Glocks though, to each their own.

                Gen 2 GLOCK 17... Toyota? SURE I'd say a 1970 Toyota FJ40....

If I have to explain it....you should just own an HK, M&P, Walther or XD. Nothing wrong with any of them.

It is nice to have a choice... I like things simple... This works for me...
Is it "BEST" no it's just my Best... in a 9mm polymer pistol.

The HK VP9 is the best.

In "free" states they cost about $599, $100 more than a $499 G17/19.

Upgrade the plastic sights on your G17/19 and you are at the price of a VP9.

Compare the two handguns stock for stock, and the VP9 refines all that is right with the Glocks (better stock trigger, grip angle, grip customizability) and adds that little bit of HK-ness (build quality, peerless reliability). This is worth the $100 price increase.

The VP9 kills the "HK is expensive fan boy ware" claims, except here in California where even Gen4 Glocks can be sold for $1000 (see Glock 43, Glock 34s in FDE etc)

Try one, you will buy two like I did.

Only real negative to the ownership of this weapon is the scarcity of the god damn 10 round magazines. I bought 10 when I could. I think they are more available now.

M&P and HK are the best IMO. Love the feel of them.

Funny. I sold all my HK pistols for Glock and SW M&P.

I would pick the M&P out of the two. Smith and Wesson has a great product. Even the stock trigger is fine.

IMO, HK makes good pistols, but they are overpriced for what they are.

S&W M&P. Over all feel better in the hand. And so far very reliable

I don't know if a comparison to a Porsche and a Toyota is a positive. I have an Acura and a Porsche. Zero issues with the Acura. Porsche makes me cry when I need items fixed on it and parts and labor are usually 3 times the cost of any non german car. Don't know much about the HK pistols but have an HK AR. It's nice, but my Glock always goes bang and is the easiest pistol to use. I do have a metal Sig pistol (not plastic), which is nice and very accurate, yet not as easy to shoot in combat shooting drills. It's ok to be a euro snob and buy items that have a high price tag. Germans make great stuff, but is it worth the price? Not so sure. When it comes to cars, I would never give up my Challenger...don't have a gun that has that much love to compare to except my G17 gen 2.

                              I have owned a 911S and also a Toyota...

They were both very good cars, within their own genre.

The 911S was definitely more fun in every way. The Toyota was more dependable and easier on fuel cost.

However, now I have a MBZ SL500..It is both fun and dependable and somehow gets awesome MPG on the highway.

And coincidentally, I have just purchased a new SiG Sauer SP2022 for the price of a new G17

The Sig P320 might not be the best, but it's definitely one of the best in these categories:

                                -trigger
                                -ergonomics
                                -looks
                                -ease of complete disassembly
                                -points naturally
                                -stock sights
-not one plastic part other than frame
                                -modularity

                                I probably missed a few
