Which New .45 Should I Get?

I've come to realize that my G21's grips are too big for my non-mongoloid hands. I checked out a G21SF and, although better, it's still a little too big.

I'm pretty much down to the XD .45 5" and a Sig P220 4.4". Both fit my hands well. I've read some reports (and seen some video) suggesting the Sig tends to have quite a bit of muzzle flip. That's a negative in my book. While I plan to try to get out and shoot both, until I do, I figured I'd seek other's input.

Which of these 2 would you choose and why?

It's intended for HD and range fun.

    No love for the 1911?
I'd say p220, but which model are you getting?

....had to say bacon. My personal choice in .45 is a 1911 but that's just me.

I'll get a 1911 down the line. Right now I need something a little more tacticool.

I'd get the plain Jane black nitron P220

Sig taking an early lead here. A beautiful pistol for sure. No muzzle flip issues?

I would go with the Springfield XD out of the 2 choices as I just do not care for Sigs, but I voted bacon since I would go with a 1911 or a CZ.

I offered my wife to shoot my 220. She resisted at first and asked, "I only have to shoot it once if I don't like it, right?"

She emptied the magazine, dropped it like a rock, slammed in the second and proceeded to empty it as well.

In HER opinion, the 220 in 45 ACP doesn't have much muzzle flip or recoil.

              Buy and enjoy

First handgun I ever bought was the XD-45 service and I still have it. Build quality feels better than a Glock and reliability has been good. Out of the box it would benefit from an extended magazine release and some grip texturing. I went with a PRP trigger, Dawson front sight, a new slide release, and some other goodies.

Biggest gripe about the XD is the take down lever placement is always interfering with my long fingers since I shoot thumbs forward. I've been happy with mine otherwise and its been a good gun for what I could afford at the time.

If I could go back with more money and do it again I probably would have bought the Sig P220 Combat. If you are looking at P220 price ranges, have you considered the USP 45?

I'd look into CZ, but no accessory rail. Since its HD I want to mount a light.

No love for the cz 97b? If your don't muzzle flip... go try one. And if you want attach light/laser you can get a rail added from cz custom for like 45 bucks. Great triggers out of the box too.

                            +1 on the CZ 97B

I was going to get a 1911 in .45acp for my next gun, but the CGW-worked 97B I got is so smooth, accurate, and without much recoil that I nixed the 1911 idea.

                            Well, kinda, I got a 1911...in 9mm

I voted for Bacon since there was no 1911 option. If you want tacticool, what's more tacticool than this, it even has "Operator" stamped on the slide
