    Taurus recalls 9 models

    It's a recall prompted by a suit:

Guns are inherently dangerous. A fact not in dispute! But, a mechanical drop-safety in serious, defensive pistols is, and should be, a universal requirement...

Not surprised. Taurus makes cheap knock offs of real guns.

The sad irony is that some of those 9 pistols are on the roster. They will be fixed and promptly be de-rostered.

Society wins, but the safe handgun roster actually worked as intended. Californians lose the ability to buy new Taurus handguns from these flawed models.

      Its sad but a win-lose.

I just checked the Roster and if there are any CA exchanges to be made, there will be a Taurus revolver in your future.
There's only one semi-auto in .38 Super on the Roster.

I'm wondering if this affects only the DAO models or the later SA/DA models, or both.
I've had good luck with Taurus, as far as the "pocket howitzers" PT140 and PT145 go.
Long pull on these DAO models that the youngsters all hate, but these are close-in defense guns.
Both have been totally reliable in feed, fire and function.
Hope they can fix them, the are worth more than $200 to me.

I guess I'll be posting about my Taurus recall experience in the future.
          Wish me luck.

I bought a PT92AF back in the 80's and have not had one problem with it?

This is why I bought an Armscor revolver over a Taurus. I had heard of some problems with Taurus manufacturing before in the past...

Taurus's knock offs are the only guns of theirs id own, the 1911's they make are good for the money and the Beretta copies are a little rougher in finish but I prefer them to the real thing due to the safety location

Early Taurus guns (from the 90s) are fine. I had a PT99AFS from 1992 until 2014. Never had a single problem with it, and it was blued. Traded another member for an unwanted Ruger SP101 3" that I slicked up. I still had a bunch of standard mags for the Taurus, so I bought a newer PT92. They're early revolvers were stout, solid performers as well. Still have a 441 in .44spl.

As a former owner of a 1994 vintage Taurus Revolver, I would strongly disagree.

Only revolver that ever failed on me.

                          I am.

Smith and Wesson has more recalled guns.

In fact this is the first recall in the U.S. that I know of.

                          Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

If the CA safe handgun roster had just stuck to banning new sales of guns like these, there would be a lot less push back against it.

If we have a recalled pistol(I do) and it is no longer on the list(I have yet to check) are we going to run into problems when we want to get our repaired pistols back? IIRC plenty of SSE people have had that issue.
