The ones I have for my SA Milspec are worn out, which ones are the best replacement mags?

If you're going to invest $ on mags Wilson Combat are the way to go in my opinion. Expensive, but reliable. I've also heard good things about McCormick but I have no experience with them.

Tripp are tops in my book.
Wilson EMT (or older model 47D) are legendary in their own right.

You can also replace spring and follower with Wilson parts, why not?

1911 Mags
Everybody will list their favorites. I'll give you my experience with several.
-stock Kimber 7 round which came with my TLE II Custom or Warrior: This is my longest running mag, but now has its spring & follower replaced with a TrippResearch.com "Super 7 Upgrade Kit". Even so, a welded-on floorplate mag is not preferred by me.

-ACT Mag. This came with another 1911. It didn't last long with a weak spring and feed lips spreading beyond .390".

-Kimber KimPro Tac Mag. I had a few of these. Feed lips spread relatively early. The follower design intermittently jumped my slide-stop lobes in a couple of my 1911s. I retired these mags relatively early.

-Wilson ETM. I only have a little experience with these. The followers also jumped my slide-stop lobes in a couple of my 1911s. I traded these for the 47D models.

-Wilson 47D. I generally like these mags but use the "Super 7 Upgrade Kits" in them, which makes them 7 round mags. I find the 47D springs weaken relatively early (within a year of my use). Mag bodies good and feed lips have generally held true.

-CMC Power Mags. I also run "Super 7 Upgrade Kits" in these. I found the followers also intermittently jump my slide-stop lobes after the followers get chewed up a bit with use. Mag bodies good and feed lips also holding true.

-Tripp Cobra Mags. Since I'd been using their upgrade kits, I decided to try their own mag designed as a full 8-round mag, similar to Wilson ETM's bodies, a bit longer. These have become my main magazine. They already have the hybrid polymer/metal follower I prefer and the mags have proven reliable in my four 1911s. Brownells.com and direct from TrippResearch.com seem to be the only places I know to get these. Highly recommended by me.

Some folks won't like the looks of a Cobra Mag as it is a bit longer and its basepad (similar to Wilson ETM) is widely shaped. I have magwells on all my 1911s so they're not very noticeable to me, plus, the function, so far, is outstanding.

+1 for Tripp Cobra, flawless and great looks with magwell, works on all my 1911s with no hiccup. Les Baer, DW, and Ed Brown.
CMC powermags I had no luck, last rd hiccups frequently. I had to swap out the follower with the Power mag + and didn't like how it reassembles was annoying to make sure the top of the spring sat correctly during re-install after cleaning.

I've shot 1000's of rounds through several 1911 using cheap $16.95 Mac-gar mags. Mostly 8 rounders. I have both old with metal followers and new with plastic followers never a problem. Forget all that expensive crap, buy a few Mac-gars and be happy.

Springfield uses Metalform mags, IIRC. And they work well.

I have no issues with them, Checkmate, CMC, or Wilson.

Another vote for Tripp Cobra mags. They're the only 8-round mags that I use because they're the most reliable.

For 7-rounders, I use Metalform mags with round followers.

Thanks for the write up, I've had the same experiences. That was a nice trip down memory lane.

Tripp Cobra 8rd Mags are hands down my favorite. Also wanted to mention that my stock 7rd Kimber mag is utterly reliable in my TLE as well.

CMC 8rd Power Mags: Weak springs after 2k rounds between 5 mags. Ran great the first 1k rounds then it got started iffy at 1.5k mark. FTF's probably because of the weak springs. I don't like the follower can jump all over the place and has no support.

Checkmate 8rd Comp Mags: Only shot ~300 rounds between 5 mags so no long term reliability results yet. I like that the follower has support and would not flop around. The cheapest (but still good quality), true 8-round body around at 20 bucks a pop from 44mag! Checkmate mags + CMC extended base pad makes for a nice, long mag for Single Stack in USPSA.

My problem isn't the springs, they feed well. It's just that the top of the magazine is starting to bow out and rub against the inside of my trigger linkage.

Well in that case my experience with CMC mag body are good. It has been stepped on numerous times and the body holds true.
