After expressing my personal feelings to friends for the last decade that the s&w 40 cartridge is on its way out, I read in this months G&A that the FBI has officially s*#t canned the 40 and is returning to the 9mm. The 40 is a terrible compromise between today's easier shooting but greatly improved ballisticly 9 and the .45 .

G36 isn't enough thinner than g27 to be worth starting with another caliber. Already have 4 different pistol calibers. I'd actually like to drop one, but I like the guns too much!

KrisDSA you have experience with pm40? I found one for helluva deal but keep going back and forth in my mind

The G27 is as thick as the G23...



So, if the G36 is too thick?

Then I would recommend the Walther PPS/.40.

what about a Kahr K40? steel gun, well built, 6+1 40 cal; however with how similar 9mm performance is to 40cal, why not get the kahr k9 or p9 or CW9 (budget friendly) and have 7+1 of a nice 147gr HST

+100 on having the same operating platforms if you could swing it. Remember, in a SHTF scenario,you will NOT default to your level of training,you WILL default to th level of training you have mastered....That's why IMHO,I carry a G26 durring the week,when my shirt and to be tucked in,on the weekends or when I can have an untucked shirt, a g19
...if I really need slim,then,that's when I deviate to a shield,but th shields are a very similar operation than th glock..It may have a safety,but I never use it an th great part about the shield saftey,it's almost impossible to mistakenly engage...
