Pulled the Trigger on a Kimber

Just won an auction on Gun Brokers for a New Kimber Custom II for $699. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=491078592 Honestly, even with FFL/DROS fees, I couldn't do better for cost. Was looking at the Springer Mill Spec and a couple sigs, but I have always liked Kimber(though no handled one). Hopefully, it'll be one of the 'Good Ones'. Been wanting a Kimber since I was very young, and just never got around to it. Hopefully it will be what I believe it to be.

Have heard that the mags sometimes are problematic. Wilson, McCormick or other suggestions for additional mags?

Get Wilson mags, check it over for rust as soon as you get it. Mine had rust spots on the barrel out of the box. Overall not a bad piece though.

Awesome gun congrats. Wilson is all I use for my 1911's, worth the money imho.

You will find better prices on gunbroker than in the FS section of this forum

Here is a great write up on factory mags vs quality aftermarket, especially in a 1911. Fairly informative: http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/201...911-magazines/

                        Sweet looking pistol

That is a great looking gun. I have two Kimber 1911's, one in 45acp and one in 10mm, and they are both great guns. I own a Wilson, Nighthawk, Ed Brown, and Les Baer. I am not sorry I spent the money on these pistols because they are just special and you can tell when you pick one up and handle it. In fact I might buy another Nighthawk. But as far as shooting reliably and accurately the Kimbers are just as good.

Well hopefully you get a good one.

Unlike the POS that is my Kimber Pro CDP II, I have to admit the KimPro Tac mags (made by CheckMate) are a good mag and can be had in the $19 range online.

I have a Kimber Pro Carry II and it has been stellar through thousands of rounds. It is a serious carry gun which gets a lot of holster time along with a couple thousand rounds a year. I couldn't be happier with the gun.

The only drawback is their customer service. Kimber is not so great considering how much you spend.
