any pro's and con's with the Springfield? any one had issues with their mcoperator?

if not the springfield, what should i look for?

    thanks.
IMO, the Sig is a better engineered 1911. Holding it just feels sooo good. The Springfield is a great all-around 1911. As for recoil, I have found the Springfield is slightly better managing the energy then a Sig (that's with using the same grips on each pistol).

It comes down with what YOU are most comfortable with. DOn't drive yourself nuts which to purchase. Flip a coin as no matter which pistol you buy, you'll have a smile on your face.

Can you change the front rubber strap? I saw one at my local gun shop, was about to pick one up, but got turned off by the front rubber strap. Asked the salesman, he didn't know that either.

The ONLY thing I don't like about SA is the 20 LPI checkering.. needlessly aggressive.. the rest is real nice

Sig is very nice as well and you get a lot of bang for the buck.. if you don't mind an external extractor.

If you have a torx bit then you can change the rubber grips (Pachmayr grips) out easily for any 1911 grip.

The Springfield Armory MC Operator has a smooth front strap under the grips so you could customize it however way you want.

The grip is 1-piece total wrapped around.

The grips of course can be replace with traditional grips without the a front strap, or it's just rubber-> just cut them off.

Springfield is a good choice. I recently purchased a TRP and have been impressed and happy with it. For the price, I do not think that you can go wrong with a Springfield.

Just about every holster company I can think of accommodates 1911s with rails: Safariland, Galco, Bladetech, Raven Concealment, Crossbreed, JM Custom Kydex - even Fobus and *shudder* Blackhawk.

Find one that also accommodates your light. Out of all my railed 1911 holsters not a single one works with a light attached. I'm considering having the rail removed.

I have a Sig 1911 non-rail. My dad has a railed version. I couldn't be happier with mine.

I was in the same boat, Colt? SA? Sig?
I chose the Sig. Very happy I did.

The MC Operator is a fine pistol. Congrats.

What 1911, what rail and what light?

Also, you say you're considering having the rail "removed"? Surely you realize that the farther away you get from a stock configuration the less likely it will be that a holster company will be able to accommodate you.

                              As Hilton Yam says:

Given the mind boggling combinations of 1911s and lights, you can see why the holster manufacturers haven't jumped all over tooling up for every one. Likewise, don't jump on some new factory or custom 1911 and light combination before you've thought out how you will holster it. Be a smart end user and select a complete weapon system to serve your needs.

                                Could you elaborate?
It's hard to find a holster that will take a light. There are plenty of 1911 holsters that will accept a railed 1911 with no light attached.
