Range Rules: only load magazines in bay?

Indoor range. All magazines must be loaded in the shooting bay, not on the table behind the line.

Just curious what the logic for this rule is. I can think of a couple possible reasons, but I'm just curious what they're reasoning is.

The best way to find it out is to ask THEM.

Because there's always some bonehead that will load that magazine into a gun behind the line. I've seen it more than once.

It keeps all the ammunition out on the line where the guns are supposed to be. Too many morons in the gun world to trust ammo near guns coming out of or going into bags.

FT3 in Stanton is okay with you loading on the back table. I sit on a chair loading my mags all day. They also have a range officer who keeps a good eye on you in case the newbs are doing something wrong.

This is the main reason. Has nothing to w/the act of loading the mag itself.
Nailed it right there! I saw a man loading his magazines behind me.

Then he stood up, slapped the mag into the gun and walked up to the firing line.

I left the range because he kept doing it.

No thank you sir! I watch everybody when on the range.

This assumption is part of the reason we face ever increasing gun laws.

If you can't trust them at the range then you can't trust them in public and you can't trust them at home.

              Take all the guns away.

If new shooters were read the range rules when they arrived, this would never happen. This is a range problem. So you walked away and could have been shot in the back while leaving, but you never explained the proper procedure to the guy? You watch ever body, but you don't teach/help anybody? You might want to visit a new range, because that guy will be back.

Don't see the reasoning unless they don't follow "uncased guns only on the line".

                    Strange and a PITA.

Just like Angeles shooting range. Walking from the back bench to the front with a loaded gun is a no no. Actions must be open.

When they make the rules, they have to consider everyone that will shoot there. They have to factor in the lowest common denominator.

I load all my mags at the bench.

I do keep one magazine fully loaded at all times in my pocket just in case someone decides to go psycho on the line.

I'm of the "their range, their rules" mindset, but I'm also concerned about the increasing degree to which lowest-common-denominator thinking intrudes into our everyday lives. I'm certain that such thinking is the rationale for countless overreaching regulations and laws, especially here in Calif., and especially when it comes to firearms.
