Why not a Glock 20 and multiple conversion barrels?

I bought my first handgun, a G19, almost 30 days ago and I'm addicted. Or at least, I want to get a second one to keep Martha company.

I've like the G19 alot, it feels good in my hands, I really enjoy the trigger and the simplicity, so I've been looking at Glock's lineup, and it seems like a good idea to me to just get a G20 10mm auto, and then if I want to try out other calibers, I can try them out just by buying one or more of these Lone Wolf conversion barrels, all of which the G20 accepts. .40 S&W for relatively cheap ammo? Sure! .357 Sig because I've never shot it before and it's interesting? Definitely. A longer 9" 9mm barrel to see how accurate I can be? Absolutely.

What am I missing? A Glock 20 plus various conversion barrels and mags seems like a way better setup than trying to buy one of each. And I get to shoot 10mm auto, which by all accounts is the king of semi auto calibers.

The G20 grip is fatter than your G19 grip. For some people, that is an issue. If you are okay with it, it is a good option.

To each his own. I'd rather have separate weapons and not try to make a do it all gun. Glocks are cheap, you'll pay 1/2 for a conversion and get pretty much 1/2 a gun. I could see a 45 with a 50GI conversion, but even with that I'd pass.

Keep in mind that between the cost of getting new barrels, recoil springs, and (potentially) magazines for. 40, .357sig, and 9mm, you're probably most of the way to the cost of a whole new gun. . 40 shoots best on platforms designed for .40, not 10mm. Same with 9mm, .357Sig, and every other caliber. There is no One Handgun to Rule Them All, and I think you'll find that shooting a seperate gun for each caliber is FAR more fun and satisfying than shooting multiple calibers from a single platform.

Please practice on the 9mm and have fun. 10mm is around 1$ a round until you learn about reloading.

In general, conversion barrels work great for turning range fun in one caliber into fun in another caliber. In the calibers you sighted, you will likely have no issues.

I shoot 40S&W right from my stock G20/G29's but if you are hesitant a conversion barrel is a cheap sleep aid and may give you slightly better accuracy to boot.

            Have fun.

Get the G20 you'll like it.. don't be too concerned with all the different barrels and calibers and have fun shooting the 10.

                  Why not a g21? You could shoot .45, 10mm, .40, etc..

I have several 9mm Glocks and thought the same thing unril i purchased a Glock 20. My hands are too small for the 20. I can shoot it well but, i struggle with it.

Here is the bigger problem: Once you shoot 10mm you will want more. I've since added a DW Razerback and a STI 10.

It's a fun cartridge but, pricey and make certain it fits your hands.

At least with Lone Wolf, I only saw G21 conversion barrels to .40 Super, 400 Corbon, and 460R. I didn't see any conversions to 10mm or .40 S&W.

You can go 10 to 45 but not the other away around.

I wanted to ask about this, too. Do this work stock, or does it require .40 S&W magazines?

Also, do any of the calibers I mentioned require anything other than a barrel and magazines? I know (for instance) that 9mm and .40 S&W use different extractors, but most people say that either works for the other. Are the calibers I mentioned the same way with with the G20?
