Sure! .357 Sig because I've never shot it before and it's interesting? Definitely. A longer 9" 9mm barrel to see how accurate I can be? Absolutely.

What am I missing? A Glock 20 plus various conversion barrels and mags seems like a way better setup than trying to buy one of each. And I get to shoot 10mm auto, which by all accounts is the king of semi auto calibers.

I have a G20 with several barrels. The main problem is there is no 9mm sized magazine for the G20. You have to use the 10mm magazine for 9mm, 38 Super, or 9x23. It will work, but you will get a lot of FTF jams. I do not know about the 10 round G20 magazines. I have 15 rounders from before the "10 round max" law.

You can put a 10mm barrel in a G21 slide. There will be a gap at the breachface, but the barrel will be aligned by the slide to barrel clearance, so it doesn't matter. I have shot 10mm from a G20 barrel in my G21 slide.

Also, do any of the calibers I mentioned require anything other than a barrel and magazines? I know (for instance) that 9mm and .40 S&W use different extractors, but most people say that either works for the other. Are the calibers I mentioned the same way with with the G20?

It will work with the G20 magazine. It has to feed from the magazine. You cannot drop a 40S&W into a 10mm chamber and close the slide, and expect it to work. You are better off getting a 40/10 conversion barrel. My 40/10 barrel is more accurate than my 10mm barrel.

Yes, the 10mm magazines work fine for the 40S&W cartridges, My gun feeds and shoots 40's flawlessly. I even use 40 cases to load 10mm rounds (to 10mm OAL's), they work fine.

I have a friend who shoots 9mm from his G20 with a conversion barrel and uses his 10mm magazines. He has had great results with this setup. I reload, 40S&W cases are as plentiful to be picked up as 9mm cases at most of the places I shoot, so there is no advantage for me in buying the 9mm barrel.

I was thinking of picking up a Glock 20 , and even though not interested in shooting .40 cal w conversion barrel, saw it as a way to shoot larger caliber in 2 ways- cause could pick up 50GI conversion kit as well.

As far as using for 9mm, etc, the grip is rather large, even on the SF frame compared to the Glock 19/17. Which I can see as reason why people would like dedicated Glock 19, etc separately, and also it's just fun to buy more guns!

Hmmm. $0.60 is what I see and I only checked one product on one site.

My G21 is happy with who it is.* My G20 has multiple personalities.

I have installed a G20 slide with a .40 conversion barrel onto a G21 frame, and everything worked, using G20 magazines.
                I also use G21 magazines in a G30S.

The 20 and 21 are big guns but if we could fill the mags I'd get one but being limited to 10 rd mags I feel the guns are too big. The G19 is a good size gun, I still hate the empty space in the mag but it's size is just right.

So, the equally "just right" size gun but in 45 acp is the XD45 Compact, holds 10 rounds and is same size as the G19, even the reach to the trigger us the same. If you love the G19, I suggest trying the XD45 Compact.

I did the G20/.40 conversion barrel for a while. It didn't feel any different shooting the .40 in the larger frame than it did in a G22. Eventually, I sold the G20 and the conversion barrel is still in my safe. I wasn't comfortable with using it in my G21.

Or until you learn about the internet.

Not that 10mm is cheap, but it's certainly available for far less than $1.00 a round (like $0.40 cents a round).

And that's the last site you should ever need to check Love underwood 10mm ammo.
You can also get practice 10mm ammo at LAXammo for cheaper, I don't recall what I paid last time but it was something like $100 for 250 rounds, factory new.
You can get a 10/40 barrel and shoot cheaper ammo, but at around $120 for a barrel you'll have to shoot like 1000 rounds before it pays for itself, and at the end of the day how valuable was the practice if it's not even close to the ammo you'll actually use with the gun?

Anyways, all that being said, I bought my G29 with the intention of buying a bunch of conversion barrels too. Ended up buying none, I'm perfectly content shooting 10mm all day with it. If I ever want to shoot cheaper ammo I'll just go get a 9mm glock of the same size for the price of 3 conversion barrels. I hate messing with malfunctions, I prefer to use the weapon the way the engineers designed it.
Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

In my opinion if you're going to run 10MM you need to reload. Yeah, I shoot .40 thru once in a while.

                          Stock barrel. No conversion barrel.

I like the idea of having one gun that shoots multiple calibers. You do not need a gaggle of guns in the safe if you choose the right base gun. Maybe this is why the .357 and .44 magnums are popular.

About reloading... It's not the big money saver that some believe. Buy-in can get expensive. Recouping your investment and saving cash are more akin to a marathon than a sprint.

And, dare I say it? Don't forget the .22LR conversion kit for your G20.

True. If you look around you'll see 10mm is the same as .40 and 45 in same configurations. 9mm is definitely cheaper though. If your local LGS is charging a premium for 10mm, walk away and shop elsewhere. He's ripping you off.

FYI - a couple guys here posted that you cannot go G21 (.45) to 10 mm conversion. This is WRONG! I have a storm lake G21 .45-10mm conversion barrel and about 300 rounds through it JHP and FMJ. I have not changed or modified the stock G21 extractor either like some suggest. Love having this option for extra power while hunting/hiking in bear country. Hope his helps some of you guys who were wondering.
