Ruger GP100 vs Tarus 627****Update****

I love my gp100, it's perfect to me. Very little recoil, good shooter.

I went with the 4" also. Can't stress how much I love this wheel gun

The GP 100 is a great gun. I bought mine when I turned 21 back in 1992 and it is still one of my favorite guns to shoot. I opted for the light lug 6" in stainless.

I'm a Taurus fan and have glanced at the 357 Tracker.

I would rather buy a Ruger.

i prefer the 4" to the 6" for most applications, but you've got to find what suits you best. if i was making the purchase and was going to use the revolver as a camping companion, i'd go with a 4" stainless model. if i was going to use the revolver in environments that could potentiate rust, i'd go with stainless in this instance too. if i was someone that couldn't stand the sight of some honest wear on a gun's finish i'd go with stainless. wear and tear will show on a stainless handgun, but a blued version of the same handgun will show the same wear more predominantly.

all that being said, i love blued revolvers and have no regrets for owning the ones that are mine. i also own stainless revolvers and there are no regrets for ownership.

couldn't have said it better. one of first handguns I bought 8 or so yrs ago. Put thousands of magnum loads through it and never a hiccup and the thing still looks brand new- For such a work horse I actually really like the looks of the GP100, real tank and the big rubber grips are perfect for my hands. Will always have my GP100 4" and it's the one handgun that always comes to the range w me.

When it comes to wheel guns in D-action, trigger pull makes all the difference.
The GP100 is quite good. Taurus, don't know. That would be the deciding factor for me even if it was more $$.
The above assumes both guns are reliable. I know the GP100 is.
